last minute change-how sick UPDATE

Update 8/5/04 - We are still going to Virginia next Wednesday, and then realized the girls are out of school Sept 16 and 17 so we booked BC concierge on AP rates and got great airfare for a 4 day getaway- not DVC, but should be a good time!

Okay, we are scheduled to go to D.C. and Williamsburg next week. But we are jonesing for a DVC trip (or at least a stay at the moderates) even though we will be going over Thanksgiving.

We saw airfare today for $225 round trip with perfect times. Should we take a credit for the DC trip on United and then revise our plans to go to MCO? Is this a disease, or what?

It is a disease, no doubt!!!

Virginia (DC) is also a great location for sites, history and thrills (Bush Gardens/Kings Dominion) but I would opt for the DVC plan just because you can...

Yep it's a disease and almost everyone on the DIS boards has it!
Every time I even THINK about doing a trip to anywhere except WDW all that goes through my mind is "But I know I'll have a better time at WDW". It's just about impossible for me to enjoy anywhere else because I keep thinking "Gee this money I am spending would have paid for me to be having a GREAT time at WDW, and here I am having just a so-so time" NOTHING beats a WDW vacation. I'll go somewhere else if it's a quick drive and not too costly, but my "real" vacations are always to WDW. Most people who aren't part of the Disney "Cult" don't understand and I have given up trying to explain it to them.

All I can say to help you decide is: Where do you think you'll have a better time? Don't worry about if you go too often or what other people think, spend your money where YOU will have the most enjoyment.:thewave:

ITA, why go someplace just to say you went!

I know what I would do! I'd be on the first thing smoking to WDW!! LOL But then again I have the sickness too.

A friend of mine just cancelled at the recommendation of the hotel!!! How do you like that!! Williamsburg is okay and a great place to visit.

hey DVC are generally disney nuts - so go with MCO - forget DC or Williamsburg

I went last year to Williamsburg and Hilton Head - forget I loved my DVC trips much better.....

If you go to Williamsburg - see Bush Gardens, Jamestown and if you have time Yorktown.

I had a similar situation earlier this month....
Were planning a short get-away to Williamsburg...Busch Gardens with my sister and her child, along with dh and 2 ds's. Four nights....Of coarse the wheels in my mind started turning and put the figures on paper and it would have cost just a "little" more to do WDW....mostly cause of the airfare for my family.....
Anyway....DH totally was against the idea of WDW...so I settled for Virginia...
Guess what .....we ended up probably spending MORE in the long run and guess what dh said after the trip ??
We should have gone to WDW !!!
I wanted to send him packing !! ....lol !
Anyway.....wish we had done WDW !!

We just returned (Tuesday) from a Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown trip. It was hot but great. We're still talking about what a good time it was. I love my DVC but I sure enjoy checking out the rest of the US!
