Last minute booking

I have heard on other cruise lines that it is possible, if you are willing to take the chance, to show up at port and negotiate a last minute cabin on the day of the cruise. Anyone heard if Disney does that and how good the discount may be?

You cannot show up at port without a reservation. But you can book the night before or probably even departure morning by phone. I don't believe it will be at a discount unless there are *GT rates available.

It is possible to upgrade at port at a good discount; but you must already have a reservation in a lower category. Upgrades depend on availability.

I don't believe it's done on any cruise line, any longer. As noted, you have to call the day before (sometimes you can call that morning) to make any last minute reservations. AFAIK, the cost would be the prevailing rate.

Most cruiselines will offer deep discount to fill the ship in the last week if there are still lots of cabins left. E.g. to staff members or interline employees with very low pricing that is not published anywhere. These very low prices are not offered to the general public.
Most of time, ship will sail full so you will not be able to just "walk-in".

I think that the reason you can't just walk in on the last day is because cruise lines have to submit their passenger manifests 48-72 hours in advance. You might be able to do the day before but they probably have to submit that information as an exception and still need several hours to process it.
