Last-minute ADR strategy?

I'm heading to Disney World next week for the first time ever (hooray!) and, although I made ADRs 6 months out, our plans had to change due to family circumstances and I lost a highly sought-after ADR. I've been checking incessantly for months and after Disney website complications made me lose 3 potential reservations today, I'm looking into what other strategies there are to get last-minute reservations. I read in one thread to check 3 days out, and I figured I would check and call like crazy leading up to the 24 hour cancellation deadline in hopes people cancel. Are there any other strategies people would recommend? Are there usually some openings around the 24 hour cancellation deadline, or would it still be a miracle to nab one then? Thanks for any advice!

Edit: I also check the September cancelled reservations thread, which is amazing :thumbsup2

I wish there was something more I could offer to help but to be honest the best thing for you at this point is just luck and pixie dust pixiedust:

But I have heard alot of things do tend to open up at the 24 hour deadline as people dont want to be charged money for being a no show. you there is still hope. :yay:

Thanks, Bellanota! I know I'm holding on to my reservation till the last minute before the 24 hour deadline (for no reason really, just a sense of hope that I can get another one) so I'm hoping others are too. If it's not a very common thing, I wasn't going to waste my time and peace of mind while on vacation to be fussing over it. Thanks again!
