Last Chance for a Summer Vacation Experience- August 2016 Weight Loss and Lifestyle Change Challenge

I am crazy because I like it hot. I am a true Floridian :beach: despite being born in Maryland :hyper: But when I run I do try to go out early in the morning or late evening. During the day we hang out at home with the ceiling fans on (we try not to crank the AC) or go swimming. The beach is one of my favorite places to be in the summer.

I hope the brace works for you! 2.5 weeks until the big run - you got this. you will recover!

Semi-related. I think we may have similar injury spots. I had the KT Tape folks do a taping in Chicago so I could see where it should go - here's where my results were.

I was thinking of stopping at the KT booth at the expo and having it taped, I can never seem to do it right. Do they charge you?

How do you stay cool in the summer?

It gets hot where I live in summer - my office does not have air-con last summer we put a thermometer on my desk which partially is against a window (that opens) but we get the afternoon sun - the temp that day at my desk was 43 degrees Celsius which is about 109 in Fahrenheit! Needless to say my productivity was not great that day and I headed home for a very cool shower! I also don't have air-con at home - so we use fans, water spray bottle lol, lots of iced water, trips to the beach/river and yes the shops as well. I am looking forward to it getting warmer to get back on/in the water but dread those really hot days.

Good Tuesday morning

We have reached the dog days of summer. It is supposed to be 92 on Friday
(NOT what I wanted for ds's wedding)

When you are at the Magic Kingdom there are many ways to cool off
but the best one I can think of is leave the park and take a boat ride.

Magic Kingdom has boats to Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian and Polynesian

Here is view from the boat coming from Wilderness Lodge

When we were there in October we took a boat to Polynesian and had lunch in the air conditioning.

We met up with this guy as we were docking

How do you stay cool in the summer?

My problem is that we have no air conditioning in this old house we have.
We do have a lot of fans and usually get a sea breeze since we are less than 2 miles from the beach.

Here is an article that I came across this morning about this

http://www.sparkpeople.com/blog/blog.asp?post=beat_the_heat_during_your_summer_workouts

Have a happy and healthy day.

Well..... I do love the summer and I always say that I refuse to complain about the heat because I dislike the winter/snow so much. But that doesn't mean I don't get hot! I work in an school without air conditioning.... sometimes the end of the school year is downright miserable! And of course, doing manual labor/maintenance there during the summer isn't much fun either! I try to move slower and take breaks in the air-conditioned office as needed.

No central a/c here at home either.... it is a rare thing here in New Hampshire. We do have a few window units that I use sparingly, as it makes the electric bill skyrocket. We've been very lucky this year that most nights have cooled off sufficiently for sleeping without the a/c on.

I don't mind the heat too much for working out.... especially since I would most often workout outside early in the morning. But if it is dangerously hot I will use the TM or a workout video in my bedroom with a fan and/or air conditioner running. It's not ideal, but it works good for me. I didn't use it a lot, but I do miss my pool! It was great to be able to flop in after a hot workout..... or just do some water jogging while the kids played!

Good morning my friends! Hope you all are well today! I am working a 24/7 shift right now and then I will be dashing out to work at school. But I couldn't let the morning go by without stopping by to say hello!

My DH bought me a new television (I gave mine to DD for her apartment) and it is a "smart" tv so I am able to easily access Netflix and Amazon Prime movies..... plus DS is going to hook up the soundbar I bought for my old TV (the volume was never loud enough when using my TM) that never worked right on that one and hopefully I will have a great new entertainment system for when I walk/run inside!
Any suggestions for a new movie or series to binge watch? I was going to re-watch all 6 seasons of Downton Abbey, but I'm concerned that won't hold my attention enough, since I've seen the whole thing. I started watching Orange is the New Black a while ago and I thought that the story line was interesting, but raunchy! I'm not a terrible prude, but it was actually uncomfortable for me to watch. Wish there was a PG version I could watch.

Mmmmm.... coffee! Glad I started the pot before my shift! Time to throw on my painting clothes and wake up DS.... my 24/7 shift ends shortly and it is time to get to job #2 !..................P

My husband and I really like Gotham. We are almost done watching season 2. 3 starts this fall. However there are about 20 episodes per season. We also started watching Shades of Blue in the spring. This was the first season and it was a short one. Maybe 10 episodes. It is the new show Jennifer Lopez is in. I was at the edge of my seat each week and hated when it ended. It was always a cliff hanger and I would get so mad that i had to wait a week to see what happened. It did get renewed but I am not sure if it will be a half season or a full season. We both also like Once Upon a Time. We do get aggravated with it at times. Season 3 (or at least half of it) was really bad and we almost stopped watching but didn't. Season 4 was much better.

I know I am early with my woohoo's but I am not sure if I will be back on. Work has been really busy and this afternoon I am getting in my daughters room to clean it while she is gone. I need to get ride of stuff without her knowing. Here are my woohoo's

1. I made it home alive last night. We went to dinner with family last night and the drive was horrible. First I almost hit a deer. First time that happened. I slammed on my breaks and the cars back end fish tailed. Thankfully no one was behind me or coming in the other direction. Then the storm it. It is the worst one we have had in months. Really the first rain in like months. I hate storms and get pretty scared when I am not at home. We were in the Metro Parks so lots of big trees and no street lights. The rain started to really come down and I couldn't see to drive. That really scared me. I pulled over as soon as I got to a spot that was safe. Thankfully my husband was with me but I completely lost it. The wind was bad and I swore a tree would fall on us. It was so bad that my husband drove the rest of the way home. Thankfully only about a 5 -10 minute drive. He should have been driving because he had a few beers at dinner but it was better then having me drive. We made it home and then I ate a bag of Reese Pieces. Not my best moment but it helped.

2. I am kidless this week. It has been nice being able to come and go as we please. Monday night we went to the movies and saw Bad Moms. It was hilarious but I did start to cry a few time. I am really starting to miss my kids but they will be home tomorrow night.

3. I am going to the Luke Bryan concert on Friday. I have wanted to go to his concert for a few years but something has always come up. I can't wait. It is at an outdoor venue so I am really hoping it does not rain.

4. I am watching my nephew (my brothers son) on Saturday and my sister and I have decided to take the kids to see Pete's Dragon. I loved the old version and we watched it a lot growing up. I am afraid it will not live up my expectations but the kids really want to see it.

Good Wednesday morning everyone

Thanks for the percentages. I will try to get them up by the end of the week.

Today is WOOHOO Wednesday

P1000497 (640x480).jpg P1000500 (640x480).jpg

Let's hear all the good things this week.

My WOOHOO for this week is that ds is getting married on Friday night. I just tried on my dress and I still like it. The only problem is that it has lace sleeves and it is going to be in the low 90's for the outdoor ceremony. I am also worried about my makeup not staying on my face.

I'm gonna woohoo that I've been on plan the last two days! I've worked out, I've stayed within my points (yesterday I did have to steal 1 point from my workout points because I was starving and the snack I had my eye on was 1 point over) and all-in-all I'm feeling much better about this week than I have in a while. So fingers crossed that the scale is as rewarding as I'm hoping for.

I'm also going to say that I'm crazy sore today. I have been dealing with hip problems which I self-diagnosed as tendonitis. I've been stretching daily and last night for the first time in ages I did a leg strength workout so I'm hoping that incorporating more strength into my routine will keep me from being injured and generally just help me tone my body.

I have 2 woohoos, first I finished my paintings and I think they turned out pretty good (got the idea from the Dispop podcast) and the other is I am so excited to take my DDs to CRT on Saturday for the first time!

Soooooo cute!!!!

Woohooing today:

- The scale was the lightest I've seen since April on Sunday (it has since gone up but whatevs)
- We will be leaving for Disney in 48 hrs!!!

Good Wednesday morning everyone

Today is WOOHOO Wednesday

Let's hear all the good things this week.

Hmmmm.... DD is fairly settled in her apartment and this was her LAST COLLEGE MOVE until she graduates!! This was her 8th college-related move and I am so over the moving! I gained less than my "plan" during my vacation (although I still wish I hadn't gained at all). And I am less than 30 days out from my trip to California!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OOOHHH....and now that DD's birthday has passed, I can tell you all what I bought her!! We are attending the World of Color Dessert Party at DCA on our first evening in Anaheim! Crazy, insanely, stupidly expensive for what it is.....but SO EXCITED! And since she is now 21 years old, we can both indulge in the champagne option!!

My WOOHOO for this week is that ds is getting married on Friday night. I just tried on my dress and I still like it. The only problem is that it has lace sleeves and it is going to be in the low 90's for the outdoor ceremony. I am also worried about my makeup not staying on my face.

PRIMER!! DD swears by primer under her make-up, especially for HOT days. She bought some before the wedding this past June and despite it being a warm muggy humid day, her make-up looked great for hours!

You are a seamstress.... you could probably make your dress short-sleeved if you wanted. My Mom did that last minute before my brother's September wedding many years ago.... it was an absolute last minute thing, but I don't think she ever regretted it....as I recall the church was pretty dang warm that day! And CONGRATULATIONS on that HUGE upcoming "woohoo" event!!

******************

Hey all! Home from a long hot humid day at work. DS and I are heading out shortly to run some errands and buy some college dorm and school supplies, plus he wants to upgrade his phone if we can find the one he wants in a local store. I don't want to eat out, so we may have a quick early dinner before we go because I'm sure we won't be back before 8 pm.

See you all in the a.m......................P

Holy cow, how did I skip out on so many days? I even neglected to put up my % for the week.... Which was 0% -again.

I ended up with way too much food for having my family over on Sunday so there were several days of less than stellar eating, trying to consume the leftovers.

Yesterday I headed out for Pt Townsend for two nights, which is where I am currently. I'm staying at a lovely B&B in a Victorian house... The entire town is a Victorian seaport.

Yesterday lunch didn't agree with me and I ended up skipping dinner. This morning I had the full breakfast served at the B&B but have skipped lunch and will be heading out for an early dinner. So since I've been here eating has been pretty good.

The clouds burned off today and I've spent most of the day around the water. Just tooling around and taking it easy.

Trying to remember some of the questions I missed. I love BTMRR and have noticed it seems faster at night. I think I'm more of a morning person. Love the Peoplemover as well and do it a couple times each trip. I seem to go over to Ft Wilderness pretty much every trip, a couple times for Hoop de Doo. I also like to resort hop around the lagoon and have been known to kick back in the Grand Floridian lobby. Being the quintessential PNWesterner melting point is right around 75 degrees. I do own two window fans and also a portable air conditioner. I relax by knitting. And for a Woohoo, I guess being able to take this nice relaxing trip and knowing the house is nice a tidy when I get home.

Oh, I forgot to mention I went into a spice shop here and it was the same company as at Disney Springs... Do I stocked up!

Good morning all! Things are quiet here! But that's okay.... that makes it easier to keep up! I have one more "woohoo" to add for yesterday.... I had a new grand-nephew added to the family! That makes 5 grand nephews and 2 grand nieces (all on DH's side of the family). Just sad that my DMIL wasn't here to see... nothing she loved more than another grandchild (or great grandchild) added to the family!

Time to get dashing out to work. It's going to be extra hot and muggy today.... not something I'm looking forward to working in... oh well.

Have a THRILLING THURSDAY all!.................P
