My dd is planning on going to the Block Party next week. I forgot to give her my ID card before she left. I won't be arriving until after the party. Will she still be able to go? CM at check in said she can try to go, but she is not sure dd will get in. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Not sure if you would want to do this but you can get the exact resort address (you can get this by calling the resort directly) and send the card Fedex Overnight. I know UPS has an overnight letter rate of about $20.00.

If you do this, you should let the front desk know to expect it and that they should notify your daughter as soon as it arrives.

My husband lost his Amex card one year while at OKW and amex sent him a new card via FEDEX next day.

I attended the Block Party last week and the CMs were not giving anyone wristbands without their DVC member cards. You only had to show one card for your entire party but you definitely had to produce your member ID. Your DD might be able to get in if her resort ID has DVC member on it but I didn't see anyone using this last week.
The Block Party was fun. There were free carnival games with prizes, coupons for free ice cream, popcorn or cotton candy ( two per person), a DJ, and lemonade. You could purchase other beverages inside the club. Each person also received a flashing DVC member pin.
They were holding a raffle for two large gift baskets filled with Disney merchandise but you had to be present to win. Unfortunately, we had dinner reservations at Spoodles and had to leave before the drawing.

Was she staying at a DVC resort? All she would need is her resort ID that shows MEMBER on it. I specifically asked, do you need to see my DVC card and she said no, i already have seen your resort ID and it said member. I came in at two separate entrances, the one at PI and the one down by west side. I had removed my bracelet thinking we were done for the night but we wanted to go back to comedy warehouse so had to re-enter and same thing, only had to show my resort ID. I honestly don't think she'd have any problem at all. You'll have to repost and let us know if she was able to get in!

Either fed ex it, or call your guide and ask if he/she can have a temporary card or letter sent to her room in time for the party.

I think I would be upset if they didn't enforce the blue member card. That means that anyone renting points could go. At members expense!!! (DVC member shows up on the cards as long as you are on points!)

Wait.....doesn't someone who rents dvc points get all the perks and privileges of the member? If that weren't true, it would not SAY member on the resort ID, so yes, i believe a renter should get to go to the party. The points he rented were already paid for by the member, and he PAID the member for those points to rent, so it comes out even in the end.

But should they? then what the heck is the point of buying if I can get all the perks, and not lay out the funds to do it?

I've been a member for almost 10 yrs and its always been that way. Personally, I'd rather be an owner and have control over my points and their usage. I guess i could have rented instead of bought but i'd hate to have to do that on a yearly basis and worry that i'd find what i'm looking for WHEN i'm looking for it. Honestly, i see your point (no pun intended, lol) that it would probably be better to require the blue member card for admittance, like a true member gathering.
I've never rented my points in the last 9-10 yrs, they're too precious to part with, all 452 of them; but i bet some of the members who DO rent them use little perks such as this as "selling points" for potential renters.

If a little party that a family who is renting points really irks you, go check the "mug thread" or "pool-hopping" threads :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think that Disney knows that people rent points and if they were against guests renting points and attending these events then they would change the process and room keys (what they say) when chceking-in.

We were there in July and I had forgotten my DVC card at home. We had to go over to Saratoga to the DVC office and they gave me a temporary card to take over to the block party. We would not have gotten in other wise.

I wound up sending the card to her (overnight). I was told she could only get a temporary card if her name was on the contract. I was also told she had to have the blue card to attend.

It did sort of crack me up-she needed my membership card to attend the party but the next day I did not need my membership card to check in (DD still had it).

HI, We just got back from BCV. We were all set to go to the Block party and then to Wolfgang Puck's, when I re-read the dates.....and August 30th was NOT one of them! LOL. It ended on August 23! :rotfl2:
