Lasik

I got Lasik yesterday. Best decision in my life. I had one of the best surgeons. Today im seeing 20/15, before I was at 20/200.

I had to get it done for a law enforcement job I'm in the process for but this is awesome not needing contacts.

Lasik is great. Anyone else get it done?

I had Lasik recently and I know my first thought after wards was why in the heck did I wait so long? It's great to be able to see!

I had Lasik in October 2008... best decision ever.

Even on the drive home, I could read road signs that I had to be on top of before seeing on the way there. It's like living life in HD!

My dh had LASIK several years ago. He's 45. He's never regretted it, his vision is just amazingly good considering how bad his eyes were before the surgery.

Mine ended up being around 3600. no disney vacation for me for awhile now.

If I recall correctly it was around $1800 and then I paid an additional $1800 for a lifetime guarantee. As long as I go for my yearly eye exam, it can be corrected for free if my eyes change.

They don't put you under; they give you a xanax or something to that effect.

they don't put you under, you have to be awake so you can follow instructions.

It doesn't hurt though, they give you some bill for anxiety and it works. Theres really no pain, you only feel a bit of pressure but no biggie.

I want to get it done, but for some reason it totally freaks me out! I would love not having to wear my contacts everyday!

I had it done 6 years ago! And then when dd21 turned 18, this was one of her presents!

I had SUCH a phobia about anyone touching my eyes (but I can't tell you how badly I wanted to do this) that I could not wear contacts cause I would freak out trying to put them in!

Anyway, it took 2 Xanax (my daughter said she had never seen anything so funny) to "relax" me enough......and then I didn't care that they were marking on my eyeball! I didn't care about anything!!!

I am so happy that I caved in (taking drugs is another thing I despise doing) and had this done!!1

I would love to be able to get it done but when I went in for a consult several years ago I was told that my pupils were too large and that my corneas were too thin. So I shall continue wearing glasses for the rest of my life. sigh I can't imagine being able to wake up and see. And especially now since I get up several times during the night to tend to DD it would be nice to not put my glasses on and off multiple times! Maybe technology will change and I will get to be a candidate.

I had it done a few years ago, in my late '40's. While the end result was great, I was very disappointed the first few weeks. I had night halos, very dry eyes and blurriness the first few days. I would just caution those going for the procedure that not everyone has instantly perfect vision.

I went to the doctor in NY who pioneered the procedure, so that was not the problem. He corrected my eyes differently so that I would not need reading glasses, so far this has worked out, but as I get further into my '50's I notice small print is becoming a problem.

Me and my DH had it done in December of 1999. I went for my annual eye exam the first year or two and honestly hadn't been since then until this past weekend. The optometrist could not even see where the incision was made on my eyes, I had zero scarring. And although she did say I have a very slight prescription now, it in no way warrants corrective lenses. She could see very slight scarring on DH and he has developed a bit of astigmitism in one eye, but also doesn't require corrective lenses. It was definitely the best money I ever spent and at the time our medical insurance covered it so it only cost about $700 for both DH and I.....and many where I work at that time had it done for a $10 copay since it was an in office procedure where they went.

Really? Mine cost $4600!
