Lasagna recipes

I don't go thru nearly as much pain as most of you, cept maybe the poster who orders from Olive Garden. :rotfl: Personally, I don't like their lasagna though. I do think their alfredo sauce is to die for though.

I buy Ragu (big container)
1 pound ground beef
1 pound cottage cheese
1 pound ricotta cheese
8 oz. bag of mozzarella cheese
2 eggs
parsley (I don't measure)
9 lasagna noodles (though I cook 1 or 2 extra in case one breaks)
parmesan cheese

Brown the ground beef, drain it, and I actually rinse it with running water to get as much fat out as possible and dab it with paper towels. I doubt many would do that though.

Cook lasagna noodles al dente and run water over them to cool them down

After ground beef is cooled (if not running the water over it) I combine everything together in a bowl (minus parmesan cheese), but only add almost 1/2 to 3/4 of the sauce in the mixture. I see absolutely no reason in having to layer everything separately. A friend of my mother's told me that trick years ago. I'm sure everyone wouldn't like it but.....

I coat the bottom of the pan with a pretty thick layer of sauce, I then put 3 noodles across it, pour 1/3 of the bowl mixture over that, another layer of noodles, 1/3 the mixture, another layer of noodles, the last 1/3 of the mixture, then I pour the remainder of the sauce over the top and sprinkle a good bit of parmesan cheese over the top.

Cover and bake at 350 for an hour or until hot and bubbly.

I've not had a single complain yet and I make it a lot when company is coming for dinner.

Oh, and don't forget about the salad. No matter which you decide to make, I hope you and your family enjoy it.

Don't forget to add the peas! My kids say its the best part of the lasagna.

For the people who use nutmeg,I assume it goes in the cheese sauce?

I've never heard about the nutmeg until I read this thread so I'm not sure where it goes but my family adds cinammon to the meat sauce.

I'm actually thinking of adding some gruyere cheese

I'm going to make lasagna again tomorrow. Will try adding the nutmeg.

Just a tiny bit. A little goes a LONG way and can overwhelm the cheese filling.
