We have friends who stayed there and thought it was OK, not great though.
In a normal city it would be fine but in Vegas it's on the low end of the hotels. When you put it across the street from Ceasers or the Bellagio, it looks pretty dumpy.
Are you doing a package Andrea? Usually you can upgrade to the Mirage or Treasure Island for just a few more dollars.
It's a convenient location though, so if you don't plan on staying in your room much it will be fine.
My MIL stayed there and didn't like it (and trust me, she is NOT picky!). There are so many great deals on really nice hotels, that I would pass on Imperial Palace. Try some of the travel websites like travelscape.com or expedia.com, or even www.a2zlasvegas.com for bargain rates. I think you'll be happier.
