We are going to LV on Friday, staying at NYNY. Really excited to go back, last trip was 2 years ago. Any suggestions for dining? Any must see activities or shopping areas?

I am interested in the replies that you will get. My 5 sisters and me are going to Vegas (first time for me :)) in January to celebrate my oldest sister's 60th birthday :) :).

Wow, I thought, what a quick reply! Please feel free to comment or ask questions on this thread.

I leave in 6 days, and have been to Vegas about 10 times. But since Vegas is always changing I thought I would ask the travel experts. I did find a Earl of Sandwich listed at Planet Hollywood, maybe a little Disney fix?

We were just at NYNY over labor day weekend. I don't have any budget dining tips really, the only awesome thing for us, was we were going to eat at Hard Rock Cafe, and they were having their grand opening the next day, and they were doing staff training, so we got a free lunch. That was awesome!
I wish we would have seen the ventriloquist at the Mirage, that show looks like it would be really fun.

Have a great trip!

Hey! I just went for my 22nd birthday in July. We ate at Tao in the Venetian for my birthday dinner which was kind of expensive but worth it! We also ate at a restaurant in NYNY called Nine Fine Irishmen which was really good, and they have live music at night. The best was Battista's Hole in The Wall. You MUST go! Its a fixed price dinner and includes everything. So much fun!

I love Dick's Last Resort in the Excalibur. Also Society in Encore was nice. Check restaurant.com for gift certificates.

Thanks everyone :). We are staying at Belagio. Is there some good (i.e. budget minded) shopping within walking distance? Thanks :)

Not in walking distance. There are two outlet malls that are easy to get to in a taxi - LV Outlet Center is "at the beginning of the strip"; it used to be the Belz Outlet Mall and has a Disneyland outlet store/Character Warehouse; and the LV Premium Outlet Center is downtown and has a Disney Store Outlet. Just tell your taxi driver "the outlet mall past Mandalay Bay" or "the outlet mall that's downtown."

You are in walking distance to high end shopping - Via Bellagio in your hotel, the Forum Shops, and the Venetian's mall. Plus, the Crystals (?) at CityCenter should be open by January. Plus, there's the Fashion Show mall. There's no shortage of shopping in Las Vegas.

There is a restaurant at Ellis Island Casino that has a steak dinner for $4.95. It's not listed on the menu, you have to ask for it....but boy is it good. Also they have breakfast for $2.95.

We were there in Aug and had a nice time (we saw Terry Fator...his show was hysterical!).

I had gotten the American Casino Guide, it had a ton of coupons, a lot buy on get one. It is only good for a year, so you may have trouble finding it, but check ebay or in a B&N store (online didn't have it, but told me which local store did).

We ate some buffets ( MGM, Mirage and one other I can't remember) but I wasn't over the top thrilled with them as some people are....WDW buffets are better!

The Venitian has shops inside, mainly designer, BUT they have a small pizza/cafe that have a bunch of bakery items and THE BEST brushetta I have ever had for $1.50 (on a large slice of italian bread).

We also saw Mystere (got buy one, get one for $25) and the show was amazing!

Our favorite budget meals in Vegas:

Burger Bar at Luxor/Mandalay Bay (it's in the mall between the two) - Great "build your own" burgers. Awesome fries too!
Gonzalez y Gonzalez at NYNY - very tasty Mexican food
Mr Lucky's at Hard Rock Hotel - $7.77 steak & shrimp special, plus a good all-around menu at decent prices
Earl of Sandwich at Planet Hollywood - always a good deal and a little taste of WDW to boot!
Buffet at any Station casino - these are more "locals" casinos but Palace Station and Texas Station are just off the strip and Main Street Station is downtown. All have buffets that aren't super fancy, but are great deals for the cost.
Buffet at M Resort - This is far south on the strip, but their buffet is a great deal, especially at lunch. Buffet price includes all the beer and wine you want.
Capriottis Subs - Various locations off strip. There's one off Sahara and one near the airport. These subs are huge and so tasty. The Bobbie is my favorite--Thanksgiving on a roll! A medium is easily enough for 2.
Gelato Shop at Bellagio - A small is more than enough to share and the flavors are amazing. They will mix, so you can get 1/2 and 1/2 to try two. It's a great treat after exploring the Bellagio
Fontana Lounge at Bellagio - Not really a meal, but a great "deal" for entertainment. For the cost of a drink ($6-$12) per person, you can get a table on the patio with a front row view of the fountains (with Paris in the background--breathtaking) and enjoy decent lounge musicians between fountain shows. It's a great frugal treat.

Hope you have a great time!

The buffet at The Rio :thumbsup2 We NEVER miss it.

I think it is $25 a person, but it is the best food EVER.

There are about 20 different bars... Italian, Seafood, Sushi/Mongolian BBQ, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, salad, desert, and then there are the typical buffet fair items.

So delicious.

If you go downtown, try Binion's cafe. After 10 pm you can get a surf and turf (same that you can get upstairs in the restaurant) very cheap. If I remember right, you do need to ask for it. It's not on the menu.

It is very good, and Rio is a lot of fun too.

I need to follow along on this thread. My husband and I are leaving on Thursday for a long weekend in Vegas. We're staying at MGM Grand. We were discussing our trip last night and I told him I'd do a little research on dining options. I logged onto the DIS this morning and saw this thread.:thumbsup2

We've been to LV several times and I know there are a ton of places to eat. I love reading everyone's suggestions/recommendations.:)

Thanks, OP, for starting this thread!

If you want something like quick service restaurants there is a Chipotle and Panda Epress, mcdonalds, and pizza joint two hotels down and across the street from the bellagio (across from Mirage). There are also several mall type restaurants in the Venetian (great chinese with a bento special for like $8 -lots of food!) Ceasars next door also has a big cafeteria place -very nice. I have not eaten at the buffets in years. The prices for sodas in the stores are more than DW prices. LOL So be prepared.

Have fun at the Bellagio dznyacct! Make sure you catch the fountains when they play "Its time to say goodbye", I just downloaded it to my Iphone the other day.

There's an In and Out Burger on W. Tropicana Ave., just on the other side of the interstate. I love their burgers enough to walk a couple of blocks.

Thanks for starting this thread! My mom, boyfriend and I are headed to Las Vegas in a month for my 21st birthday. I have barely started to plan for daily activities and dining. This thread should be a big help! :thanks:

For an Italian feast, might I suggest Bucca de Beppo? Went there the last time I was in LV and loved it! Lots and lots and LOTS of food for a reasonable price. The meals are HUGE and my party of four shared a couple entrees and sides - even so, we went home with leftovers! To visit Bucca I think you'd want a car and need to be willing to drive a tad - it's quite a ways off the strip - but I thought the food was faboo FWIW!
