Larger group ADRs

I am looking at a possible June 2010 trip with my own family (4 of us), my sister's family (4 people) and my dad (1 person).

We'd most likely book separately. If this is the case, is there any problem with any one of us obtaining ADRs for our entire group?

Also, what potential pitfalls might there be in getting ADRs for a party of 9?

For our most recent vacation, we had 5 rooms, 11 people total. I made the meal reservations for everyone in our group. Some were for all 11 of us, some were in various combinations from 9 people down to 2 people. It was not a problem.

The only pitfall for larger groups is that you may not all be seated together when you eat. Most places do their best to accommodate you but not every place has that large of seating spaces. For our meals, we had 2 places we were not seated together (Sci Fi and Coral Reef) but they did put us at tables that were right next to one another. All other places we were seated together but I had told everyone ahead of time that there was no guarantee that we would be.

Hi, I just made reservations in June for 8 people (7A & 1C) for our upcoming trip in Sept. I had no problem making reservations for this many people. The CM on the phone was very helpful and I got all of the times (within a 1/2 hour) I wanted. I did have to concede on a Le Cellier Dinner, but was able to secure a lunch reservation instead. I will say, though, it has been hard to find reservations for that many people 30 days out. I am happy with our reservations, but have been curious to see if I could change times or places, and nothing has become available for that many people online. Just make sure you call 90 days out. However, I just saw that Disney has changed their policy now to 180 days out effective Oct. 27, 2009. Good luck!

If you are staying on site, you could qualify as a grand gathering. We are a group of 10 and linked our reservations and they registered us as a GG. I was given a different phone number to call to make ADRs for groups of 10 or more. They might be able to help more? I have to wait a few weeks for my 90 day mark, so I don't know how much better that is.

We are part of a group of 10 that is going in November. I wasn’t planning on registering us as a Grand Gathering. We are not planning to do any of the Grand Gathering special events, so there just isn’t an incentive. However, maybe I should if it simplifies the ADR process.

You can make online ADRs for up to ten people.

Thanks Jenna,

This is a big deal to us since our 90 day out is this Sunday. We would rather try online an hour earlier for our group of 10, then wait an hour an make the reservations over the phone.

Although, everytime I have checked the online reservation site out, it seems to be down with the message please call for reservations.

We take 13 with us when we go and we always go as a Grand Gathering. You have to call the grand gathering to make your ADR's but we have never had a problem, I think that maybe they tend to keep some ressie's open for grand gatherings :confused3 but I am not sure
