Large Pinecones

Anyone know where I can get my hands on some large pinecones? I know they have a specific name and someone was talking about them at one time here on the Dis but I can't remember who it was. If anyone can help me find some of these pinecones I'd greatly appreciate it!! Thanks!!!

<font color=navy>I believe you're talking about Coulter pinecones. We have some in our living room, and they are huge - sugar pinecones are also very big, but not as big as a coulter pinecone. We have them in our local mountains - the ones that are closed to us because of a huge fire raging there now.

I don't know how you'd go about getting one, though, 'cept for going up to the mountains yourself, or having someone send it to you.

I saw them at WalMart when I was there last night but they were the cinnamon scented ones. Are those the ones you are looking for???? Michael's or a craft store might have them - but they might also be scented. If you are talking fresh ones I might be able to ship some to you from my mom's house....they aren't the astronomically huge ones but they are bigger then the tiny ones.

YES!!!! MJ~ Those are the cones I was talking about. I thought it was you who previously posted about them but wasn't sure. Sorry to hear that the fires are so close to you. Maybe next year if we get to Disneyland we'll have to visit the mountains and see if we can find some. Unfortunately there are no mountains around here. And thanks for the website. They've got tons of cones!!!

99~Every year I go to Walmart and try to talk DH into getting some of the cinnamon cones and every year he says no. I think he's the only person alive who doesn't like the scent of cinnamon!!! So unfortunately the scented ones are out of the picture. And PM on the way!!
