Large Party - Two Reservations at CRT Question

Has anyone ever had a large party and had to do two separate reservations? We are a party of 8, and we are looking to do CRT in December for my niece's 5th birthday. I wasn't able to get a reservation for 8, but over the course of the morning, I have been able to get two reservations for 4 at the same time. We're not going to want to be seated on opposite sides of the restaurant though. So has anyone done this? When you check in, have you requested to be near each other? Were they able to accommodate you? Just looking for some feedback and experiences from anyone who has done this. If there is a slim to none chance of us being near each other, then I know to keep searching for a reservation for 8. Thanks in advance!

Last Nov we were a party of 6 & 2 with a 1/2 hr time difference and CRT accommodated us all together at the earlier timeframe.

Not guaranteed, but getting there early to ask is recommended.

Good luck.

i've booked CRT for as many as 11 on one reservation.
if you have 2 reservations you can ask to be seated near each other and disney will try their best but it may mean waiting much longer than you want to or it may not be possible at all.
i would continue to look for a reservation for 8 and if you cannot get one then be prepared to potentially not sit near each other.

Again, I want to reiterate that being seated together is not guaranteed.

I searched for a seating of 8 up until the last minute and nothing ever opened. So we were ok with being seated separately. But I still got there early and asked...

It's not guaranteed at ALL, especially with a such small restaurant as CRT. Going early might not help you either, maybe 15 minutes, but showing up half an hour early is just going to make you wait that much longer.
They will do their best to accommodate you, but with other larger parties booked together, they plan things around the reservation sheet they have at the beginning of the day. Be prepared that you might be seated at tables near each other, with different servers, or somewhat close, or on the complete opposite side of the dining room.

Are both your reservations under the same name? If they are under the same name, or at least same last name, and within say, 10 minutes of each other then they will usually just "guess" that they might need to accommodate the parties together.

That being said, because of the size and volume of the place, it might not be possible at all.

We had two parties of 4. We were linked in MDE and had asked dining on the phone to note it on each reservation that we would like to be seated together or near each other. We kindly asked if they had a table to accommodate all of us when we checked in, and we were seated together at a table for 8. Never guaranteed, of course, but it doesn't hurt to ask. They will do their best to accommodate you.

I've been separated at CRT before when we booked as a party of 8. We ended up at 2 tables of 4, across the aisle from each other.

Thanks, all! I am definitely going to try to find a reservation for 8 but at least I know there is a chance they will try to accommodate us if we get there early and ask. I am really just hoping we can at least be near each other and not opposite sides of the restaurant.

Reservations are under the same last name and are at the exact same time. So maybe they will guess and plan to accommodate us. Fingers crossed!

There are tables along the wall, and when there are large parties they will try to drag them together. They try but this is a small restaurant, and I do not remember many large round tables.

I don't think they drag the tables together. I was there in August with a party of 10 reservation. We were seated at two tables next to each other. I think the tables are bolted down actually.
