I am hoping someone else has been in this boat before and can advise me! My son is going to DW on a school trip. The kids were informed at the beginning that they would not be able to make FastPass reservations, which we're not happy about but whatever...They are going to be given vouchers for counter service meals, but I would like to make a reservation for him and some of his friends (and pay for their meal) as a special gift. Is there any way for me to do this without having basically any info on his ticket? He has a Magic Band from a previous trip, but I have no idea how to activate it for this trip. I would appreciate any help or advice!

You don't need park tickets to make a restaurant reservation at all.

Your only issue is going to be if you are not going to be present and intend to pre-pay for the meal...you can't do that when you make a reservation (unless it's CRT or a dinner show). You'd have to make those arrangements directly with the restaurant which might not be easy.

I won't be present but will just give him extra money to pay. Would I just make the reservation under my Disney account? It wouldn't need to be linked to anything?

Yes, just make the reservation under your account and have your son give the name when they check in for the reservation.
