Large Balcony at BCV

We were assigned one of the corner studios purely by chance last January. Here's the view:

Corner Room

I think it was room 360, but I'm not sure.

Now I have a good idea what those balconies are really like. SWEET!!

Looking at the turret on the other side, from your pictures, it does confirm scootches 'no divider on the 2nd floor balcony'. And just for clarification, the access to that balcony (I think!) is room 228 which is a the studio portion of a 2 bedroom lockoff this unit is handicap friendly room. Of course.. I could be wrong!

My husband and I were in room #516 at BCV from Oct 8-12th. We really loved it! When we got off the elevator we took a few quick steps and there it was! It was in the corner all by itself. It did have a nice size balcony, and was a studio. When I used the laundry facilities I went to the elevator, down to 4, took a few steps and was right there! For us, this was a great room...and btw, we did not hear any elevator noise!

Hi Chip1 :wave2:

DH and I were in that studio from Sept 23rd to the 27th! No elevator noise at all and the balcony was huge! As one poster stated though, the balcony light did stay on all night long and it was bright. But...the curtains were very heavy and completely blocked the light from coming in. We loved feeling like we had our own "private" area as the room was off by itself in a corner of the hallway. Loved it!!

Yes..#228 must be the one I was talking about lisareniff , on the 2nd floor::yes:: It actually wasn't far from our villa -- we were on the 3rd floor , if you're facing the villas standing in front of the hot tub, pretty much directly above it;) so the balcony on the 2nd floor I was speaking of was on the 2nd floor corner of the middle and right side wing when facing the villas. Hope that makes sense. That one balcony is the only one I remember not having the divider through it as far as I could tell. We were there over hurricane Jeanne :magnify: :bored: and had plenty of time to stare at them:yo-yo:

So...I guess then that mostly studio's seem to get these big balcony's then unless they're being used w/a lock-off 2bdrm then. I would've thought the 1bdrms being larger would've gotten them :confused3 :scratchin :p

Great pics btw cjb-nc!:teeth:

OK, I get way too obsessed about these things....

Picture of the large balcony

From what I can determine (I have never stayed in one but have some maps)... The large balconies are on the 5th,3rd and 2nd floors. They share the balcony with two units and have a divider on the balcony. Ten of the twelve are a either a dedicated or lock off studio and two are dedicated one bedrooms. I think the window between the two is for the pool elevator area on one side and a stair well on the other.

Here are the rooms going from top to bottom and right to left (from the pool). S= studio, D=dedicated, L = Lockoff

516 S- D
528 S- L

560 S- L
566 S- D

316 S - D
328 S- L

360 S-L
366 1bdrm - D

??Upper area of common room
228 S- L

260 S- L
266 1bdrm - D

There are also two small turrets closer to the center of the building. The balconies are off the second bedroom of a 2bdrm dedicated unit. (434 and 454)
Thank you.

We stayed in a studio numbered 260. It had an enormous pie-shaped balcony that was next to a section with a window off the elevator pool lobby, and then continued on to Room 266's balcony, I think. My only concern was that the window in the elevator lobby was open alot, and I felt that someone could easily have access through it to our patio door. But, that was a silly concern on my part because any first floor room with a patio door would have the same problem. Also, the light was always on just outside our patio door.

My mom and I stayed in a 2nd floor studio with the huge balcony. It was a lock off and handicapped accessible, it must be room 228 as mentioned in a previous post. It was a great balcony with a great view, overlooking the pool, over the entrance from the Breezeway. This past August we had a 2bdm lockoff 558/560. 560 was the studio part with a large but divided balcony in the "turret". As stated previously, it was near the elevator shaft and while I wasn't bothered by the noise, it did annoy DH. The balcony was still a nice size, but the outside light did stay on all night. This room also overlooked the pool, above the start of the walkway over the canal.

We stayed in 316 about two years ago. It was a dedicated studio. We also had a problem with the light on the balcony shining into the room. From the ground it looks like a hugh balcony. But it is divided into thirds and the studio only gets 1/3 of it . The other room that abuts it get another 1/3 and 1/3 is blocked off for nobody.
