Laptop or Not

For laptops that don't fit in the safe, you can buy a "laptop chain" much like a bike lock. It fits on computers that have a small hole on either side or the back. Here's a model on Amazon.com to give you a look:

This is the model I have...it's really nice with a four number lock and a heavy-duty cable. I put it around a table stand or something of the sort.

I just got my laptop in September, so it's only been on two trips with me so far, but I love taking it! I upload my photos at the end of each day (memory cards with lots of pictures on them can slow your camera down), and also use it to type up some trip report notes (I type WAY faster than I can write.) It's also nice to have the option of spending some downtime online one day of the trip!

My husband and I will not be taking our laptops with us. We also have our pictures downloaded to a CD during our trip at MK.

You will enjoy having it for the very reason you posted. Another cool thing we do is stay in contact with the DIS while at WDW. If we have a question, we can usually get a quick response. Also, you can check out the menus on Deb Wills site in case you want to make a ressie.

Anymore, a laptop is fast becoming like a cellphone. It's a requirement. We always take our laptop on any vacation or trip we take. We will use it to find directions to the next place we intend to visit. We will use it check our email and play games, watch movies etc.

Don't take it JUST so that you can burn your pictures to disc. Disney has that covered for you. That service is offered at a couple different locations around the World.

We will be bringing a laptop on this vacation. We've taken it before. I'm able to upload my photos to an online album for safekeeping and free up room on our memory stick. Though, we have a 512MB stick.

I'm staying at POP. I did a search after I read this post yesterday, and it seems that most laptops will fit in the safe. I guess mine will come along!

My new laptop doesn't even fit in any of my old computer bags.... I suspect it won't fit in the safes that my old laptop just barely fit into. Hmmm....

I always take the laptop. I have a job that I can't be out of touch for more then a day or two so I use it in the room while the family is showering after a day in the park to go thru my email. I also am involved in fantasy sports and if it is baseball or football season I normally have to do something with my line up. And then there is always check wdwinfo.com for the latest happenings in the "World".

There is another way to get your photos off of your card without bringing a laptop.

In MK in the Kodak building, as well as in Epcot under Spaceship Earth in the camera shop (probably in the other parks somewhere), you can have you pictures taken off of your card (any type) and put on a CD. It costs $12.95 which is pricey for that service, but it comes on a CD with mouse ears printed on it.

If you're needing several CDs worth of pictures, then it is not an option.

But if you're only going to take enough pictures to use up 1000-1400 mbs, thats only 2 cds and the $25 might be worth not have to take your laptop.

I am on a laptop right now at the Contemporary... I'd say bring it if it isn't that much trouble.
