Laptop deals-- worth it to wait for back-to-school sales?

We are in the market for a new laptop. I don't want to spend a ton of money on it ($500 or less), and we've found some okay deals around, but I'm wondering how much prices historically drop when it's closer to back-to-school?

Is it worth it to wait a few more weeks? Does anyone have experience buying computers during this time?

Absolutely worth the wait. Here in a few weeks you will fall into the the heat of the season. First weekend in August is tax free weekend in KC as well.
