A recent thread for digital cameras and memory cards has got me thinking

What happens with laptop computers when you are returning home through airports when you have downloaded the memory cards from your digital cameras onto them?

We are planning to take our digital camera and download pictures off our memory cards while we are there onto our laptop - will scanning them at the airport have any effect on the photos??

Any info would be greatly appreciated

It won't be a problem. Business travelers take laptops through airport security all the time. The scanning they do has no effect on the data stored on the laptop.

Scanning your laptop and various storage devices is fine. Be prepared to plug your laptop in if requested, though. Sometimes they do that to make sure it really is a functioning device. Make sure you have the plug in the case with the laptop in case the battery isn't working.
