Ive seen the many different options online $19.99 and up X 4 = Money Wasted that could be spent elsewhere.

If I had 2 kids I may have considered it =) That said Ive seen many different options I'd love to hear other ideas please. So far Pizza Boxes sound cool =) Also I read on a travel site about making a lap tray out of an old cookie sheet which our Dollar Tree has some I dont mind shelling out 4 whole bucks + tax =) BUT I know I know potential flying hazards in an accident but really everything we have in the car could be a potential hazard if not secured correctly =/ What else is there? My DD7 was just in the hospital for 2 days and they brought her these nice sized styrofoam tray to use while she painted and colored! I asked the nurse about maybe buying 8 of them (4 backs ups just in case) and she said she would check but never came back =( So what do you have throw all ideas at me and pictures or links if you have them :)

I can't wait to see what people come up with. We currently have 2 of these http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4021885 But they do not fit very well over carseats or booster seats.

We have the Crayola Color Wonder lap desk. It is soft and lightweight, and has a lip around the edge to help keep things from rolling off of it. We use this on plane trips, along with the Color Wonder markers and paper just in case the markers wandered off of the intended surface. I think it was about $15 at Wal.Mart.

DD has a tray from Michael's similar to the desk that bear74 came up with. It's great because it holds all the pencils, pens, etc. No(hopefully) finding melted crayons in the seat!

Exactly what I would suggest and they are super cheap. :thumbsup2 We bought them a few years ago and think they were only $5 each, maybe $6 and then I used paint pens and customized them for each of my kids. They keep them under their beds with papers and markers to draw in the morning before the adults are awake.
