We're headed to Universal next week and I had a thought.

Do we need to purchase the plastic pouches that hang on lanyards? We have lanyards already so we weren't planning to get those (and I guess I put any further lanyard-thoughts out of my mind until now), but ours don't have pouches that we'll need for our room keys and EPs. I'm sure I can find those on Amazon, if needed.

Thanks - Universal newbie here.

Universal has the plastic pouches with a zip top. I like having my EP on a lanyard because we do need to scan it so often. Even the rides where you have to empty your pockets and go through metal detectors, you can keep your lanyard with tickets around you neck. I always tuck it into my shirt before getting on the ride.

It's not needed. You can fish your tickets out of your wallet when needed.

If they are wearing lanyards already, why bother with a wallet?

Yep.

We have witz brand "see it safe" hard plastic waterproof pouches. Love them.

If the question is does Universal provide the pouches, the answer is no. If you want one you'll have to buy your own.

At Uni, there are a few items to keep track of. So yes, we keep the room key, tix and EP in a plastic zip top on the lanyard. I got mine on Ebay for a good buy-it-now price. Way better than getting your leather wallet wet.

I got some at Walmart in the sporting goods department. They were intended to hold a fishing license, but for 50 cents they were a waterproof bargain.

I bought a lanyard 2 years ago that came with a plastic pouch - do they not have them now?!

I just got mine from the Universal Online Store. A Minions one for $8.95.

I took the question as "OP has lanyards (neck strap + hook/clasp) but not the plastic pouches to hold tickets".

If you don't have the pouch, the lanyard is just a goofy necklace.

I have a Disney lanyard full of Disney Pins that I have no need to wear at WDW anymore... I can really only use it at Disneyland. I don't think it would be right to wear at Universal.

Here's our lanyard collection from various car events, concerts etc. So what was the first thing we did at Universal? Bought UOAP lanyards of course!

Sorry, I think I got confused! So do the ones purchased at Universal have the ziptop plastic pouches? Or are they the kind where the paper just slips in and it doesn't necessary seal? I just want to make sure that if we wait to buy them there, they will be the kind that are "waterproof".

I am a bit of a penny~pincher, and did not want to spend close to $10 on a waterproof lanyard. I went to Walmart, to the sporting goods area and found a lanyard on a simple cord with zipper lock for 50 cents. Sure I'd like a fancier one, but now I have $10 for a butterbeer ice cream cone. I figured fishermen would want something that will hold up and be waterproof, so it should make it through a five day Universal Orlando trip. I try not to carry a purse in the parks so it holds my tickets, photo pass card and a credit card quite easily.

So do the ones purchased at Universal have the ziptop plastic pouches?

If you buy a lanyard at Universal, it will come with a ziptop plastic pouch.

To piggyback on the original post, can you buy *just* the plastic pouch at Universal? Anyone know how much? DH has a Jurassic World lanyard he bought two trips ago and the plastic pouch is splitting on the side.

Last year in the Universal Store in CityWalk I asked if they just sold the pouch because my son's was splitting. The lady at the register opened a draw that had a bunch of pouches and just handed me one for nothing.
