I am trying to decide if I should buy lanyards for everyone to use. We took fanny packs last time, but does anyone like to use one more than the other. Which is better for kids? (Youngest is 6.) We aren't pin collectors, so that won't determine if we use lanyards.

Fanny packs, please, no fanny packs. Ug, while I am at it no crocs, manpri's (no man looks good in capri's), or jean shorts. Ick, not on topic but still.

Confused though, what would you use the lanyard for if not for pins?

We like the fanny pack, because it keeps you hands free. It is just big enough to carry what you need.

I was thinking about buying the kind that hold passes, room keys, and fast passes.
Thanks for the suggestions, although my family LOVES Crocs, and we will all be wearing them.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
(But no socks! My 12 year old won't let me.:rotfl: )

Can't wait until Disney. Just 21 more days. Wish we were there now.:teleport:

I say Fanny Pack. It's hands free and you barely notice it. Barely as in, you'd still notice it if somehow it got off and you left it. With a lanyard you may not notice it's gone which would cause trouble. And a fanny pack can hold more things like cameras and cell phones.

Hey, I'm a young person but I'm not afraid to wear a fanny pack at WDW. Nobody there is ever gonna see me again, and hey, tons of other people wear fanny packs at Disney.

I say use fanny packs and laynards!!! :cool1: We did and they were both very handy and not a problem on rides. Doesn't sound like one of the previous poster likes much of anything, make sure to send him some pics of your crocs while wearing jean shorts lmao!! Maybe he'll stop being miserable. :lmao:

I always wear a fanny pack to the parks. It is very convenient, and as another poster said, less likely to lose than a lanyard. I also wear jean shorts and crocs on occassion. Wow, I am breaking all the fashion etiquette in one trip. Oh well, I don't worry much about what others think of what I am wearing as long as it is comfortable and isn't breaking any rules.

What do you expect the kiddos to carry? If they are schleping their own sunblock or whatever, a fanny pack would be easier. I usually end up carrying my kid's pin lanyards anyway because they get annoyed by how they bang on their chests. Otherwise they don't carry anything - cause we keep the tickets all together and with an adult.

Lime green bagalline works great with lime green crocs! The bag keeps us hands free and also a place to put pins if we want.

Fanny packs are just weird

I say fannypack. My hands are free and my stuff is safe. I'm on vacation, not trying to make a fashion statement. Yes, my daughters are embarrassed, but, hey, we'll never see these people again. ;)

I'm another fanny packer here! I don't wear it for looks, but more for the convenience of not having to carry a bag or back pack of some sort. It goes around my waist so my hands and arms are free - no need to take it off and put it down for any reason really. In the pics in my siggy you can see my DD wearing one and she wears it every time we go. Personally, I don't think they look bad at all (maybe it's just me). I wear my lanyard for my pins sakes, but not for my cards and money.

I'm opting out for the fanny pack, I found a really cute Tinkerbell purse at Walmart and it's just big enough for the necessities but can still hold a camera and water bottle. I got a cheap Little Mermaid wallet at the Disney store on clearance too. No need to haul my checkbook style wallet all around the world.

I also say a fannypack.. My husband and I switch off and on, he wears it one day and I wear it the next. Unless you have lots of stuff then you both might wear one. I find you can carry a LOT more in them then you would think and its a great place to store your camera when on wet rides. Btw if you want to wait they sell Disney fannypacks at the stores right before you go into Mk, they are a little more expensive but if I remember right they were not that much more.

Oh, just wanted to add, I wear jean shorts too! They're not an "un" fashion statement. Tons of teenagers wear them.

I have no idea where you heard they're not fashionable.

I use both the lanyard (for the holder/not pin collection) and fanny pack. The lanyard is wonderful for holding the room key, whatever fast pass we have, and my small card on can't miss rides and dining reservation.

I like a fanny pack ... sort of a smallish one but I found one without all those annoying pockets, just one big section that holds glasses, kleenex, cell phone and all other assorted items I CAN'T live without. I'm always so glad I am older and do not have to follow any fashion guidance at all!! I even can wear coats when I am cold unlike the belly showing teens I see ...

I love fanny packs......BUT, my dd's say that I can't wear them anymore....MOM they make you look bad!:confused3

Anyway, the last time I was there I bought a small sling disney back pack that I now take with me every where! It is not as convient as the fanny pack, but apparently, I look better:cutie:

Oh, by the way, I am sitting here in my jean shorts that I will be wearing at the parks!

I say fanny packs my hands are free.
I agree with one of the earlier threads who cares what you look like you payed to have fun. When you may walk between 10 to 16 miles or more in a single day comfort is the name of the game.
:dancer:

:donald:

I have a cute "cross body bag" I bought at a craft fair, but I never did wear it at the parks. For some reason, you can wear a fanny pack on rollercoasters when they won't let you wear a sling bag or cross body bag. So we did the fanny pack thing. I have a small one that has 2 small pockets with a water bottle holder in the middle. It was really great. I could swing it behind me for photos, and I always had my mini fan and water handy. :) DH carries a larger fanny pack, and some days I go without and let him be my pack mule. :)

Thanks everyone.
I found a couple of options today that I may use. I found fanny pack, as well as clear bags to keep everything dry. I also found an over the shoulder option that can double as a soft pack cooler, (if we need it.) It is good to know that they will let you wear fanny packs on rides, but not over the shoulder packs. This may help me decide what to do.
Thanks again!

Fanny Pack for me...cash, cards. Lanyard for DS...pins. Backpack for DH...water bottles, suntan lotion, dry socks, rain ponchos.
