Lanyard Alternative?

Good morning. I can't believe it but we are less than 2 weeks away from our first-ever family vacation to Universal Orlando. We have a week in the keys prior, and then a full week @ HRH.

My thing is that I hate wearing lanyards of any kind around my neck, and will probably hate it even more when it comes to August heat/humidity. Has anyone come up with different options, other than just carrying them in a pocket? If I wear a belt, I could loop the lanyard around my belt and then keep it in a pocket, but I'm not even sure how express passes work.

Do I need to physically remove the pass from the lanyard to show the attendant? Do I have to scan it at a point along the line?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Yay!! For such a close trip!!:cool1:

I use a lanyard at UO, but when I go to a football game, where you can't bring in anything, I use one of those stretchy bracelets that you put keys on. I put my car key on there and attach the plastic card pouch of the lanyard to that for my drivers license and money. Then I either wear it as a bracelet or attach it to my jeans belt loop. Maybe that could work at the park?

You do have to have your room key scanned at the rides for your EP.

No, you don't have to remove it from the lanyard...….leave the part they scan facing out and they will scan through the plastic.

Different rides have the scan point in different areas...….Mummy is quite far in but Dr Doom is before you enter the line......they`ll let you know when you need to show it...….:thumbsup2

I loop it through a belt loop and keep it in my pocket like you said. Makes it easy to pull out to scan the EP. Also no awkward bending over at the turnstile.

I have a plastic pouch (like the lanyard has) and a carabiner clip that hooks to the belt loop on my shorts. It's super easy to clip on and off as necessary.

Same here, feel like i’m Strangling with one around my neck.

I found ones i liked at Office Depot, wound up ordering a box of them.

They are convention type ones. Black nylon like material, with a large enough clear plastic holder in front, a nice slot in the middle & the back has a zippered compartment.

They tend to last for several trips each. String is of the shoelace type variety, flat. I loop around belt loop & put in pocket or thru zipper on purse/fanny pack & stick in it’s pocket.

I’ve done that. Just pull it out of your pocket to scan. Easy.

But my lanyard is soft soft and is a ravenclaw one (in movie ravenclaw colors) and doesn’t scratch or anything like that. Wore it at USH the other week in 100+ heat and it didn’t bother me any more than the heat was already bothering me. :)

I'm hesitant about wearing my Ravenclaw lanyard after it nearly flew away on the Mummy ride last trip. Maybe if I pin it to my shirt so the card shows?
