We are a family of five, kids are DS15, DD12 and DD8. We are trying to decide if we should spend an evening at either of these shows. Really I would love to do both but cost is a factor. If you had to choose one which would you pick? Would love to hear from people who have seen both as well.

For us, La Nouba without question.

But keep in mind that they are very different shows, and there are probably plenty of people who prefer HDDR. I recommend looking them both up on youtube and seeing which appeals more to your family.

I would choose La Nouba! I have seen it three times and still love it. It gives you a little bit of a Disney Break while still being in Downtown Disney. It is amazing the amount of talent the performers, singers, and musicians have! Definitely a must do! Everyone will be entertained and in aw!

When you are considering the cost of each, HDDR includes dinner. Unlimited draft beer, wine and sangria are included for Guests 21 years of age and up (proper ID required). Soft drinks are also included.

Tough choice! We have LOVED both. Hoop Dee Doo is a riot. Plain and simple. If you want a hootin, hollerin fun time, then Hoop Dee Doo. If you want a surreal show, and want to be wowed, then La Nouba.

Your kids are at an age where they would really like both I think. The 15 and 12 year old would really appreciate La Nouba, and maybe the 8 year old too. Of course, you know your kids better than anyone and know what they would appreciate. Hoop Dee Doo is fun for all ages. ...but if you don't like slapstick comedy, or a western venue then you might choose La Nouba instead. There is a LOT of crowd interaction with Hoop Dee Doo. Having the beer and Sangria included in the price was a real plus too! :)

I will say, having done both, if I had to go back and do one over again it would probably be Hoop Dee Doo. Part of that was for personal reasons, though, since my parents were with us on that trip and it made for such a fun time for all of us.

Not a cirque fan, so for us its Hoop de doo.
The food is good, the show is great. Its good for all ages, so all three of your kids will like it.
Its all you can eat, and as stated above, the beer and wine are unlimited (which helps end a day on a good note)
Cirque also has its appeal, so its really a matter of preference, and what you think your family would like more.
You cant really go wrong either way. Both are great.

I love HDDR and the kids enjoyed it also. They were10,8 and 6 at the time. We will be booking both of these shows for our Christmas trip this year! I have never seen La Nouba and am looking forward to it. Kids will be 14, 17 and 19 this time around

Value wise, HDDR is all-inclusive - food & show.

La Nouba is more expensive with dinner not included....and Downtown Disney will likely include some shopping.

HDDR is fun, La Nouba is more elegant.

Ask your kids.

Ditto for us! We've seen Hoop de Doo 3 times over the years of visiting. We saw La Nouba and enjoyed it as well but it was one of those 'one and done' shows for us.

We have not done La Nouba, mostly due to the cost. I would say that if price is not an issue, La Nouba is probably a good choice as the reviews are excellent. Hoop de doo has great food and is a lot of fun. We typically plan our dinner and then head down to the have smores with Chip and Dale after. It's a lot of fun and a lot s less expensive. It really depends on the experience you are looking for. La Nouba is a night out. HDDR is a fun dinner buffet. We always seem to choose the fun side.:) I am sure we would love La Nouba, but the cost is just too much for us. For that $$ we can do a full day at Discovery Cove.

This is so hard because the shows are so different!!
I am a total HDDR girl, my family LOVES the show, there is so much cute, funny moments, and the atmoshere is terrific. It is Disney at its best. The food is great so much fun, and the kids love it. I love being there when the weather is good, and can experience the whole area.
We have not seen La Nouba, but have seen Cirque Du Soliel. The kids loved it, there was shock and aww with the show, and they talked about it a lot.
I would lean toward HDDR. For us, it's not something we get at home.

Hoop! La Nouba is just a show, a good show, but still a show. Hoop however is a dinner show (entirely different beast) and there is really nothing like it. It's one of the few things left over from original WDW era, and it's so cheesy and funny! It's the longest running dinner show in Orlando, and serves really good food along with great entertainment. There is VERY little turnover with the CMs servers, so that might tell you something right there. It's in a lovely wooden area at Fort Wilderness, and the entertainment and singing is so very good and the character interactation is great. 100% Hoop!!!!!

If this is your first trip to WDW, I'd say skip both. The added expense is quite a bit, and mostly our best nights are in the parks.
For those that have done it all, and are looking for something new, then either is probably fine.

We enjoyed Hoop, but it eats up an entire evening. Best bet is if you are staying nearby: WL, CR, or FT. WL. Otherwise allow lots of time for double busses to get to the show. If you drive, you can't park at the venue. You have to take the internal bus. After the show though, via bus is easy. They offer extra buses.

Also, the food at Hoop isn't stellar. For the $, it ought to be better. The show is a hoot though. We loved the classic WDW aspect, and great bonus if you are celebrating an event.

I've never tried La Nouba. We've been to WDW well over 40 times, and find the parks offer plenty! WDW after dark is our favorite! That said, if you end up at DTD, HoB is decent. A bit of a gut buster, but fun.

La Nouba is incredible, and I think you're children are at a good age to enjoy it. HDDR is better value in the sense that it includes food and beverage, but if you've never seen a Cirque de Soleil show before, I'd do La Nouba.

We've seen both and liked both. We left our kids at the kids' club for La Nouba because they were quite young. We have also been to several traveling Cirque shows in our city. Both shows are worth seeing, it's hard to recommend one or the other because they are so different. Pick which one suits you most and save the other for a possible future trip!

I agree with this. On a first trip, there is so much to do that these really aren't needed. They sure are fun though!

I have been to both and really enjoyed both. I agree with PP who suggested you look at both on You Tube. They are totally different experiences. See which appeals more to your family.
If I had to choose with children your ages I would choose HDDR, mostly because I am not sure the 8 yo would enjoy La Nouba.
I also agree that HDDR is totally unique and not something you will ever experience near home. I also think it is a better value.
Good Luck

Cirque! Especially with the ages you have, but hands down La Nouba!

We would choose La Nouba!

HDDR is cute and fun and the food is good, but for us it doesn't have the "wow" factor that La Nouba does. La Nouba is really incredible! It will likely be more expensive, but the extra cost IMO is worth it.
