IT'S ALL GOOD....hate that phrase with a passion....tells me that the folks who use that phrase have no spine to support their view of the world....avoid conflict and not take any responsibility
After it was mentioned multiple times, I had to Google it too: Video
Yes, just so. Hate is actually a thing and it is NOT simply disagreeing or recognizing obvious flaws. Can't stand when people say don't be a hater just because you don't agree with or dislike something. I also hate the way people are using the term "woke". Last but not least, can't stand "It is what it is".
Easy! If your words are discriminatory or hateful in regards to others’ identity, that’s a problem.Who decides?
People complaining about "aks".
I had to google it too and after reading several links and watching a couple of different video clips, I still can’t recognize it audibly.

Don't ever move to the Pittsburgh area! Everyone who is native seems to talk like that, even the kids' school teachers would do it, newscasters, drove me nuts for 35 years too!I've noticed a trend of leaving out the phrase "to be"...
Examples: needs washed, needs picked up, needs fixed, etc.
DRIVES ME NUTS lol.
I've been in a lot of online presentations/zoom lately (as we all probably have) and I hate it when you are in a session where there's a lot of question and answer on a topic and the presenter/speaker says to everyone "Amy, that's a great question." "John, that's a great question you asked..." Just answer the question and quick trying to be warm and fuzzy with everyone who asks a question. That tactic is obviously the new approach in executive level training because they are all doing it.
In my early elementary school years there were kids who said "aks" a lot, but it wasn't something made up, it was actually more related to speech impediment and pronunciation issues.
That is an excellent point worth highlighting, Fly Girl. Everyone, Fly Girl raises a good question: Why do presenters belittle their audiences with these insincere techniques?YES!!!!
I don't know when that started taking off but I keep hearing it more and more. Drives me nuts! Just answer the question!!
And I have heard people ask ridiculous questions and the responder will say, "That is a great question. " No, it wasn't. It is not a great question when you ask something obvious such as, "so is your heart beating right now?" DUH! I would be in cardiac arrest or dead if it wasn't so it isn't a great question.
Ah, interesting to know. Always learning something new."Aks" has been a perfectly valid pronunciation of "ask" since the 1600s.
