Landed a great one!!

Hey guys,
I landed a great deal on priceline.com. I put in $70 as a price and got the "Wyndham Palace Resort & Spa at Walt Disney Resort"!! Any positive or negative feedback on this place would be much appreciated. My wife and I are celebrating our first wedding anniversary on the "Disney Cruise" and then spending a day at MK. Thus, we needed a hotel room and I think I found a great one!!

Our family stayed there over a year ago & loved it. Its a big hotel. We found the staff to be helpful & courteous. Our room had a great view of DD. We were going to see Cirque & the location was great. Enjoy your stay!

Thanks Ted for the sentiments and I am really looking forward to this trip. My wife and I LOVE Disney!! Curious to find out how effective the shuttles were to and from Magic Kingdom. I know they are complimentary but were they scheduled at good times of the day??

There are shuttles and there are shuttles....they are notoriously late and inconsitent if they are the shuttles that service many different hotels...if it is from the Wyndam only (which I do not know) then it may run a more consistent time...I would think you could catch Disney transport from the Disney MarketPlace to other areas of Disney....and Marketplace will be a short walk from your hotel.....enjoy...Ted

I am pretty sure the wyndham shares the DD hotel bus service. It's supposed to be decent. I have read here that there is no service from the parks to/from DD shopping area(s), so walking across the street to catch a park bus is no longer an option, unless you want to go to a resort and transfer.

Congrats on the Priceline deal! It's a great service & the more you use it, the better you get at lowering those hotel prices. There are lots of tricks in the hotel FAQ at biddingfortravel.com but you really have to use priceline a few times to understand what they are talking about.

Great deal... we got it for the same price last year and it was awsome. Gillian, they must still have a comprehensive bus hub at DD, it would be silly not to get to the parks from DD (TOO PROFITABLE for WDW), and it's just a short walk away from the hotel. The shuttles from the Wyndam were fine too. You'll love it, but try to get a room in the building across the pool from the lobby, it's closer to DD, and don't forget to join "Wyndham by reques", a Wyndham club you can join at www.wyndham.com that allows you upgrade your room at no extra charge! Have fun.

Great rate....what dates did you put in for on Priceline?

You cannot get to the parks from Downtown disney (well you couldn't in July). You can get from the parks to there but not back again. You can get to resort hotels.
I would imagine it is because people were parking there instead of paying the parking fees at the parks.

Good point. Disney is always trying to stay ahead of, or at least keep up with the little tricks we learn, and parking and heading to the parks from places like DD can certainly impact parking.

wdisneelvr, I put in the dates 10/24/02 - 10/26/02. MarkB, thanks for the tip on "Wyndham by request". I will check that out!! I cannot believe the free upgrade thing; that sounds great. How do I request the building across the pool from the lobby??? Do you remember the exact times the Wyndham shuttle runs from the hotel and where did you pick it up??

I love these forums; very informative and find out about stuff you could never find in book or brochure!! Thanks guys.. and gals!!
