Land/Sea Honeymoon

Hey there- I am fairly new to the boards and am hoping that all of you fellow disneymooners can help me out. My fiance and I have decided that we are going to go on a Disneymoon. We will fly in to WDW on Sunday night, and then be in the parks Mon-Wed. Then on Thursday we are going on a 3 night Disney Cruise. I was wondering if you think that 3 days will be enough time in the parks. I have been to Disney World lots of times, but it was always with my family. So my fiance and I thought maybe if it was just him and I, 3 days would be enough. I thought it was a good idea at first, but now I am second guessing the cruise.

You may want to ask this question on the Cruise forum. If money is a little bit tight, the land/cruise may not be your best value, compared to booking the land separately than the cruise. Plus, you'll have many more options on what resorts you can stay at, vs. what ship accomodations your want. If you do a land/sea package, the ship category determines what hotel options you have. Many people also feel that it is less expensive from the park passes too. If you do the package, you get tickets for the length of stay, which for the land/sea, start on Sunday through Thursday. If you are arriving late on Sunday - you will have wasted almost 1 day of the park passes. Same thing on Thursday. Some people go out to the parks in the morning, and take the buses over to the port about noon.

But to really answer your question - I think 3-days is plenty in the parks. It is about all I can handle on any given vacation. Then you'll have a fabulous cruise. There is also much discussion on the cruise board about whether a 3-night cruise is long enough!

Since you asked... the 3 day cruise is too short, and 3 days at WDW is great, but it is a little short too. You will be on your honeymoon. You will want to take it easy. I would say avoid WDW Commando Style. I mean, you will be tired from the wedding, and wanting to rest. With due respects to clh2, you will have 1 day for each major park, if it is busy season you might not make it to everything you want to do.

I would set up PS's early for things like Dinner and Fantasmic, and one good meal at a place like O'hannas. You might want a character meal too, but you will have those on the ship.

Well we thought that we could do the 3 day cruise because neither of us have cruised before, and because a week is really all that he can take off of work. So by going to WDW and doing a cruise, we get the best of both worlds- or so we hope!

That was our thought on our first 3 day cruise on DCL... Test the water.

Listen, you will have a great time. My advice is to take it easy. Plan a trip back next year (or buy DVC) for the stuff you miss.....

Don't second guess your honeymoon unless *you yourself* are unhappy with it. If you aren't looking forward to it almost more than the wedding then maybe you should consider something else.

Now with that said we are doing the land/sea cruise. I am honestly more excited about this than about the wedding. LOL Neither Matt nor I have been to Disneyworld before. We are flying in the night after the wedding and we'll arrive in Florida in the morning. We'll actually have 4 nights at Disneyworld and 3 nights on the cruise. I know that this will not be enough time for either of them but that's okay. It's what I have my heart set on. I know I won't be able to see everything at Disneyworld but we will go back for our anniversary. The one thing I am making sure I am not doing is stressing to see everything. We're making sure we are going to a nice dinner or dinner and a show every night on land so we have some unwind time.

Now for the cruise part I think it's going to be extremely relaxing after all the running around at WDW. As long as you don't plan many excursions you won't have to worry about rushing to be anywhere. You can lay back relax and sip Pina Coladas. We are also doing the romantic escape at sea package. I, personally, think it's a must for a honeymoon cruise. You get a massage, ressies at Palo, and romantic turn down service one night with a gift.

Whatever you do make sure you are looking forward to it. What may be the perfect honeymoon for one couple might not be the same for someone else. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for that last post. My fiance and I have been looking more forward to our honeymoon than our wedding- I thought we were the only ones . Must be a Disney thing We have both been to WDW before, so we are going to just do what we want to do and not stress. Plus, since we will be staying on site we can take advantage of the extra hours, which will be nice. I think that we have a great honeymoon planned

You're welcome and I'm glad I could help calm your nerves some. And I agree it's that Disney magic. That's a big reason why we want to go so badly. That Disney magic helped make his proposal so perfect (he proposed on my first trip to Disneyland).

I think you guys will have a blast. Just make sure you plan some down time to relax and enjoy eachother. I know we are.

I agree with Ohana family about the 3 day cruise. I have done the 3 and 4 day cruise. Remember it is not truly 3 days. You have to enter at a certain time in the afternoon / evening, and you have to disembark at 8am. I would may do one day at the park on the way to the cruise and one on the day back, and do the 4 day cruise. Just an idea. Do they have the land and sea still that is 3 days land and 4 cruise?

I have never booked it that way before so I am not sure.

Well we booked those land and sea separately. We don't have enough time to do the 4 day cruise, and our schedule doesn't really allow for one day cruise than one day. But thank you for the suggestion. We have already booked the cruise and for our first time cruising, we think it will be perfect.

We are doing the same thing for our honeymoon but just a bit longer since we have 2 weeks but we are driving down. We are going on a land and sea package (3 land/ 4 sea) and are looking so forward to it as it is both of our first time on a cruise but we are both disney nuts and been to WDW a number of times. We are doing two days extra before the cruise and 1 day after at WDW but we are not going to the parks on those first two days as we just want to sit back and relax. Three days at the parks is not bad at all and as for the cruise I'm not totally sure as I still have to experience it. Anywys I'm sure it will be magical and you just have to think what you want to do in the time you have. Congraulations and have a great time as I'm sure you will cuase you will be there together.
