Last full day in the parks, and we didn't want to waste a moment. Character Breakfast at 7:30 at O'hanas. When we had breakfast at Kona (was it only two days?) before, other families were lined up for the CB. The DSS thought it looked like fun, which was a relief. The character breakfast PS was another surprise, and who's to know whether a 10 year-old boy would find it a)entertaining b)appalling c) indifferent. Thankfully, we all found it entertaining. The food was good and plentiful, and our server was terrific. Aloha!
After breakfast, for a change of pace, we caught the small boat to the MK, and arrived about 10 minutes before the gates opened. So began what the DH dubbed the morning of the Bataan Death March.
First, we marshalled to Space Mountain, & picked up FP's before riding Space for the first time. With the earliest return time one hour out, we headed to Splash. The DH diverted for BTMRR FPs along the way. The DSS loved Splash -- and the encore was soon to follow. Off to BTMRR, where we saved our FP for later as there was no line. By then, it was past the start time for Space M. FP. Before leaving Frontierland, and for reasons I still don't quite understand, we were able to pick up a Splash FP before marching back across the park to Space. We had 3 FP's in our pockets! Rode Space for the second time, and once again marched quick-step across the park for Splash & BTMRR FP's. Then we relaxed at Haunted Mansion. All told, 3 full trips across the park, 7 rides, and we'd only been in the park for 2 hours.
With our favourites under our belt, we relaxed and enjoy the less busy attractions: Liberty Belle, the shops, Pirates of the Carribean, character autographs, the stage shows, rose gardens & the topiaries (OK, those were for me!) and late lunch at the Plaza Restaurant. It was a hot day, so we headed back to the Polynesian where the DS went for another swim and the DH and I spent an exciting hour or so in the laundry, plotting how to get the lad to Port Canaveral the next day while keeping the cruise a surprise.
OK, maybe it's a little warped for two adults to be so gleeful about fooling a child. Let's not forget he's an almost 11-yr-old boy. Managing to fool one of those *is* fun.
The DH & I packed while the DS was swimming, leaving a few shoes and the odd shirt strewn in the room, and the "stuff" in the bathroom. The suitcases went back into the closet & we closed the doors. DH thought he's notice, I wasn't concerned. When's the last time a male of any age noticed 'something different ' in a clean room?
Early dinner 5:30 PS at the Cape May Cafe, which gave us a chance to explore Beach Club, and then over to MGM for Fantasmic. Managed to get seats on the left side, middle rows, and waited for the show, which did not disappoint. I can't think of a better way to spend your last night at WDW. We walked slowly out of the park after the show, explored some shops and were pleasantly surprised that when we got 'home' the DS wanted to go to bed instead of the pool.
The DSS sleeps like a stone, so DH & I were able to pack up the room, leaving nothing but the next days clothes and the bathroom. It was almost midnight when we snuck through the dark resort, dragging our luggage to the car. We stuffed everything into the trunk of the suddenly-small rental, giggling like teenagers over our masterful deception. I'm glad we didn't have to explain ourselves to security!
Back for a good night's sleep -- the DSS is dreaming about a visit to the beach, but the DH & I know that the next stop is the WONDER!!
