Land Of The Lost - The DVC Members with Resort Reservations and No Tickets Crying Room....

@Sandisw , To clarify, it's been confirmed that DVC members with resort only bookings in 2020 are being left spots? Or is that still an 'unknown'?

It says On the DVC FAQ, they were left for the 2021. But, to be honest, if they are saying that for 2021....and it was stated they did hold out spots for 2020 for APs who can book tomorrow...I do think they may have done the same for on-site guests who don’t have tickets.

I thought it was pretty interesting for DVC to have said that and it does now lead me to believe they may have considered onsite reservations when making decisions.

Things for 2020 are not booking up either, so I really think we may see the 2020 ticket sales sooner rather than later.

I just ended a phone call with DVC member services. As per today, they are not selling standalone tickets which is how a ticket sale is classified if it is not part of a hotel/ticket package, ie: non- DVC. The most I was able to get from the rep who was very nice and doing her best to answer my questions is that they hope that ticket sales will be offered to those with DVC reservations this summer, but nothing has been officially communicated to them.

When you put it on if they don't fit right on your ears pull on the ear loops in three different places to break the elastic inside so it allows more stretch. Prior to me doing this it would fold my ears and pop off.

I have a reservation at Copper Creek 9/21 and received an email from Disney today about whether or not we plan to keep it, change it, ot cancel it. When I replied that I was going to keep it, it said I would be receiving another email regarding details, which I'm assuming if it's open or not
Same but for 9/11 at Pop
The one in question is for our son and his friends in Aug to celebrate their (crappy virtual) college graduations. I'd gladly give up our trip a thousand times over for them,
Have felt for all the kids impacted but especially the graduating seniors. What’s funny is all that I know aren’t sitting around whining about it. Reasonable & stoic, way better than their parents are doing if truth be told.

So many graduation parties are still (surprisingly) happening in my area (Pittsburgh suburbs). The kids have already gone on impromptu beach trips (skipping the recent spikes in infection at many spots at least via heading out early).

majority are determined to not skip their anticipated first year of college. Very level headed as to dealing with combo of @ school/online, they are so resilient! Wish I could bring myself to get to that same mindset!

I have sent three emails to guest services, ticket inquiries and dvc about this ticket issue and no one has bothered getting back to me. I have been calling non-stop and its always busy or circuits are down. I feel as though I have been understanding through all of this. We had a trip canceled in april for myself, husband and youngest child. We bought AP’s For the three of us because we also have a family trip scheduled for august which includes my older two children. I didn’t think to buy the two older kids tickets during the closure as we didn’t even know if Disney would be open in august. Now we are scheduled to be at the beach club with no pool, using three park hoper AP’s with no park hopping, (also paid for platinum and not gold since the canceled April trip was over easter) and I can’t get an answer as to when I might be able to purchase tickets for two of my kids, so I can get a park reservation? But, anyone staying offsite that has a ticket will be able to make a park reservation this Sunday.? Disney just forgot all about their own dvc members in all of this. Besides the fact they seem to want me to leave two of family members at the hotel while the rest of us go to a park, they are not even opening the pool (sab) which is the very reason we booked the beach club in august, in the first place. I honestly feel they really just want me to cancel. But, I would have preferred they just called me and asked me to cancel weeks ago then dealing with this crap.

I was able to online chat with a CM today who said that people with reservations at Disney hotels can purchase park tickets "later this summer" based on park availability. When I asked if we would be given priority over the general public, she said that information is not yet available

So in light of all this.... What WE are doing. Your families plan may be different....

As DVC owners, we are engaging in what I will call "defensive booking".

1) DUMP current, possibly "extended" APs. No one has reported an actual AP partial Refund. These may simply be toast.

2) Reserve in 2021. There is no real park in 2020.

3) Buy a NEW AP (Gold, Silver, whatever) - GOOD ON FIRST USE. Renewals are currently a bad bet. Get Tickets good on FIRST USE, valid to 2030. We did this. We have them. Billed to our CC and listed on MDE.

4) Got a confirmed DVC Res? Got TICKETS (see number 3) - you CAN book parks for your stay. We have already done so, for APR 2021.

5) Pretend all of this goes to Hell. You have a DVC Res that can be cancelled at 30 days. You have a non-redeemed Gold Pass, good to FIRST USE, 2030. You can BAIL, obey all rules, and do it quickly.

We are still working on "defensive booking", regarding Air Fair. Initial thought? While it costs more - fully redeemable tickets.

PS - Travelex folded on everything, 2020. Consider an independant Travel Insurance Company, that actually insures your trip. We will no longer buy DVC sponsored Travelex insurance - it's worthless.

I have a late September reservation with tickets. I'm not 100% convinced Florida doesn't either get shut down or that states that have taken this pandemic seriously, like mine, won't enforce some kind of quarantine from Florida travelers.

I made a backup booking in late January in case the worst happens. My concern is all park reservations are taken in January by the time I decide to move.

I figure worst case scenario, I just take my money elsewhere. Universal, Cape Canaveral, etc. We always viewed DVC as a base of operations for central Florida, with a lot of Disney mixed in. Guess we'll just do little Disney if it comes to be.

You are so right! I've been amazed at how well my son and his friends have handled this. Much better than I am, for sure.

BTW - we're in the Latrobe area - east of Pittsburgh (thus my screen name). I just saw in the local paper that Greater Latrobe Senior High is actually holding a real graduation tonight. They are having it at the downtown stadium rather than at the school so there will plenty of room for guests (limit of 2 per student) to spread out. That made me smile so much this morning. It beats the heck out of what PSU did (don't get me started :sad2:).

I know it won’t do any good But I just sent dvc a fax telling them how I feel. Someone will probably take the fax into the bathroom with them and wipe their butt on it. I will let you know if they get back to me but I highly doubt they will because they don’t care.

It's their absolute refusal to list the date of sale. "Late summer" is a slap in the face. I guess that means people in July and mid August are a "NO!" so they should just SAY IT so they can cancel and move on with their work schedules and refund their airfare and reschedule their points.

“Later this summer“ does not help people with July and august reservations, unfortunately.

I may take some time out of my vacation while I'm down there to go to the DVC HQ and talk to someone, if we all do this...they may get the hint...face to face is much more difficult to just 'pass off' than 'oops we didn't get that message'.

Trying to find positives. I had three cruises booked this summer to celebrate cancer free. All no go. So now I have three nights at Poly in July with hubby and a week with my three teens in August. Non DVC part of the poly will not even be open when we go so I will find a chair by the pool and drown myself in Tonga toast raspberry sauce and make the most of my no ticket situation. Hopefully I’ll snag some tickets for the family in August. I’m hopeful with all the green showing on the ticket calendar that we will be ok. Sometimes gotta take a breath and go with the flow. We all just might get tickets! Fingers crossed for everyone!

This! There is absolutely no reason they can't give us a date that we can potentially buy tickets. They can list all kinds of disclaimers that it's based on availability / no guarantees, etc. They are just leaving us hanging and there is no excuse for it.

The other thing too, they may not want to put a date because their system is not scalable and if they post a date and EVERYONE shows up...it would just obliterate their servers.

I know about celebrating cancer free at Disney 💓! Good for you!!!!!!!!!! You are certainly strong enough to withstand it but you sure shouldn't have to deal with this nonsense.

Oh right - HP -nightmare IT - they could run it off the DVC member site or require member ID as a validation. And, no, I don't care about the renters.
