......I was just wondering if there is any way that you can upgrade the land portion to the Poly but only have a category 8 or 9 on the ship. I really don't want a verandah.... but would like to stay at the Poly. I'm sure we could pay the "big bucks" and downgrade our cabin- but I was wondering if we could get some kind of compensation for the downgraded portion of our trip. Anyone ever done anything like that?

Perhaps the easiest way would be to book them separately. That way should be a little less expensive, and the only draw back would be having to check in at the resort and also at the port terminal. Hope this helps.

I had the same thing in mind Emma... I have heard that you can upgrade to The Dolphin or Swan for $150-200. I am doing a cruise\land package in December and I can not justify the extra $900 for the Veranda and Deluxe Hotel. Book them seperately on my trip anyways does not save me any money. I just priced it seperately. and to have the same room on the ship and upgrade to the cheapest Deluxe (Animal Kingdom) and its about $100 more then booking the Veranda package.

Now I compared this to apples to apples. All packages include Length of stay passes.

Well I ask DU about it. THe response was yes it can be done. So here are my option. For 2 People

Cat12 Land\sea $1663 (4 night land)
CaT 12 Land\sea upgrade to deluxe land $2316
Cat 7 land\sea veranda includes deluxe $2563

Priced seperately
Cruise only $823.70 Cat12
Hotel only $883 AKL no tickets.($199 a night)
moderate hotel only is $593 no tickets.

Probably will just stick with my Cat 12 land sea package since it includes the ultimate passes. My upgrade would cost $653 more. Not worth it, in my situation. Also an inside cabin does not bother me on a 3 night cruise. Just praying of the upgrade fairy to put me in an outside cabin, like my previous cruise's.

We tried that also but found out that by upgrading the Land portion to deluxe, we would be spending the same amount of money for a verandah. We stayed with the outside stateroom and moderate resort.
