We will be in Lake Tahoe next weekend...anyone have any budget ideas? We are taking a photography tour on Sunday but have nothing on Saturday or Monday. Both activity and food ideas are welcome. We are a couple in later 50's. thanks!

What kind of a budget are you talking about? Do you have a car? It would be helpful to know a little more. Are you staying near the casino's?

If you have a car, a drive completely around the lake is always fun. Or a side trip to Carson City or Virginia City. Or have you considered taking a cruise on the Tahoe Queen paddlewheeler? It's $47 a person.

Eat at Rosie's for breakfast or lunch if you are on the North Shore. If you are on the South Shore there is a pretty good brewery for dinner near Embassy Suites.

We are staying at Harrah's. We will have a car, flying into Reno. Our photo tour will take us around the lake. We are considering one of the boat cruises. As far as the budget goes...would prefer in the $100 range.
Thanks for the replies.

If you're at Harrah's then you're closer to South Lake Tahoe. I've been there a few times, as I have friends in the area. We like Artemis Grill for Mediterranean food and the Sno Flake Drive in for ice cream!

For some of the best Latin American food I've ever had, hit up the Lakeside Inn & Casino. It looks like a total dive, but "Latin Soul" on the bottom floor is CHEAP and delicious. Go for the $4 breakfast specials.

You can take the Heavenly (ski resort) gondola ride up the ski hill and get some lovely views of the lake, as well as hiking around up there.

It's been a few years but so I can't remember prices and if you're adventurous.. we did a ATV guided tour with a leader and a group of other tourists. It was my first time driving an ATV and I started very slow. By the end of the tour, I had the pedal to the metal and was loving it.

My ex and I went to Reno a few years ago. We did the Tahoe paddleboat and it was great! I would also recommend going to Virginia City for a day. You don't have to spend anything and it was a beautiful drive up there. We even saw wild horses on our drive. Virginia City istself is fun to look around and explore. It was one of the highlights of our trip (heaven knows the casino wasn't a highlight LOL!)
