Hi all -

Anyone have any tips/things to do in Lake Geneva, WI? We are going there in a few weeks with family and just wondered if any of the DIS folk have been in the past.

TIA! :thumbsup2

Lake Geneva is a beautiful town, you'll love it:goodvibes We live 45 minutes east of there but, we do visit a few times a year to shop and enjoy the cozy atmosphere.

If you enjoy walking there is a path that goes the entire way around the lake. You literally walk through the backyards of some gorgeous lakeshore homes. We have only gone on a partial walk as the roundtrip is about 20 miles. Some parts are paved, some are hilly and rustic. You can get books and maps in town with historic info on the old homes.

The parking can get a bit nutty in the summer, especially on the main street through town. I usually park in the metered lots behind the main drag, there should be plenty of signs to guide you once you are there. They are not far from the shops and restaurants at all.

I wish I had street names for you but, it has always been easy to just park and then wander and enjoy, it is small enough to not get lost in. Enjoy:goodvibes

There are a couple of boat tours that are fun. There's an ice cream tour -- you can make your own sundaes while the boat goes around the lake; on the weekends there's a brunch tour. The houses along the lake are spectacular. Popeye's is a neat place to eat. It's right across from the big boat house. Not too far from Lake Geneva (20 minutes?), you can go to Aurora University in Williams Bay and go the observatory (I would ask first, however; there had been some talk of closing it). Go to the Lake Geneva visitor's bureau website - there are frequently special events downtown. You didn't say how long you're staying -- if it's for a couple of days and you're up to a little drive (maybe an hour?) you can go up near the Dells and go to the Circus World Museum. That's a really cool trip -- old circus wagons, a circus show, and more. There's a lot of great shopping, but it can be pricey. Have a good time!

Popeye's does have really good chicken!

I agree with the parking, we got a parking ticket when we were there!

We did some kind of ice cream social boat ride and it was cute for the kids.

Walking around downtown is nice.
