Well my DD is having a real hard time finding a job. She has her masters in psychology and has applied everywhere. Today she set up an interview with a pre-school in Lake Clear NY. It is only 6 hours away. :scared1: We live on Long Island. She wanted me to ask if anyone is from the area. It looks like it is a very rural area. Are you happy living here?

just bumpng or the weekend crowd.

might have better luck googling up the town and reading the various reviews posted there.

Also do the same for apartments around the area as that will give you insight on good/bad spots.

Wonder how the weather is there during the winter. As I'm sure you know, some parts of New York State get a whole lot more snow than other parts of New York State. For example, the Syracuse area gets "lake effect" snow, so their snowfall can be a lot worse than areas just an hour away.

Never heard of Lake Clear, though. Sorry.

I'm only familar because I take that route through Saranac most years travellling back and forth to Quebec.

It's a lovely drive. Picturesque because of the mountains, lakes and rivers.

The town seems quaint.

It has been hit hard - my opinion - by the recession. I noticed a marked difference the last drive through. Foreclosures - not as much upkeep etc. However, I noticed the change on the route in general - I can't remember if the change was specific to Saranac Lake.

It's close to Lake Placid (lovely area) and not far from Burlington, Vermont or Montreal for that matter. It's a nice position for short trips.

Just going on the ferry over Lake Champlain is a simple wonder to me.

Just natural beauty. Peaceful. (As are the Eastern Townships of Quebec - another destination)

Weather - cold and regular snowfall. But quite frankly - that's the beauty - who wants cold without the beauty of snow.

Overall, I adore the location. It's close to so many interesting and beautiful places.

Good luck.
