Laissez les bon temps Rouler...Feb 2010 2/20 MK Last part of the Night updt 9/70 pg65

Hurray for the Animal Kingdom!!!

Love the picture with the greeter at POFQ -- I have never seen him before!

Isn't it funny how kids always gravitate towards the petting zoo no matter how old they are? When we went there in 2009, my two made a beeline for it!

I can't get over seeing pictures at Disney with coats -- it is always so hot there when we visit...

I hate to be late for anything, too. I hope Michelle makes it on time!

Animal Kingdom is Dennis' favorite park.

The greeter was so nice. I think we only saw him in the mornings. He was so nice and cheerful.

You go through so much trouble picking out your outfits for the day, but when it's cold no one sees them. All they see are the jackets.

The kids love the animals. We have to drag them away every time. I'm just glad they have a seating area right by it and a little shop.

Uh oh. I have a feeling she is not going to make it in time! :scared1: I hate being late so I feel for you, it drives me batty waiting around knowing that you are going to be late.

Was the greeter there just for Mardi Gras or is he always there? I never saw him when I stayed at POFQ in January.

Don't let my teenagers know that you let Michelle sleep in!:rolleyes1 Day looks great so far.popcorn::

I won't tell if you won't tell. Don't they know how much they're missing while sleeping?

Being late is one of my pet peeves. I think it's part of my people pleaser personality.

This was our first stay so I don't know, but I do believe I've read where others talked about the greeter. We also only saw him in the mornings on our way out.

I really enjoying reading along but might have to stop. Danielle is just ahead of Katie, and I see all theses changes coming for us. You know.... that not wanting to meet characters thing.......:scared1: Of course, if I'm not too old for it, I don't know why she would think SHE was! :rotfl2:

I'm also enjoying your trip to the AK. We're looking forward to that for the first time since our ONLY time in 07!

Don't stop reading!:scared1:

I think Katie is going to enjoy meeting the character for much longer than Danielle. She was such a talented Mom making her fabulous costume that help make her visits with the characters so much more special.

We all love the AK, but it's Dennis' favorite. So many detail to see.

Awwww thanks Vanessa. :goodvibes

I don't know though. She started 4th grade this year and has matured SO much in such a short period of time. I'm really curious to see if she reverts to that little girl again when we get to Disney.

And if Dennis is your family photographer, then I'm not surprised AK is his favorite.

I was only kidding about not reading any more. I'm enjoying tailing along on your trip!

LOVED the 1900 PF stories. It's one of my all-time favorite Disney experiences! We're starting our arrival day off there this December. Can't wait!

Danielle is more child like at Disney that at home. It helps them stay young and us too for that matter.

I'm so glad you're not going to stop reading and I can't wait to see what you come up with for your 1900 PF dinner. I think I could eat there every trip.

Well, Katie has gone to 1900 PF as Cinderella, Anastasia, the fairy godmother and Lady Tremaine all on different trips. So unless she wants to be Prince Charming, it's gonna have to be Drizella herself! The dress is actually done and waiting. She's excited about it, so that's really fun! :goodvibes

Now give me some more pictures! You're getting me through until we get to go!

You're so nice letting Michelle sleep in. My mom would have never let that happen!!!! It was never a problem getting me and my little sister up, but when my older sis was 17...that was tricky.

Loved the update! I feel your pain with the cold weather! Brrr....and you are so right about the outfits. I had so many cute shirts and a couple of customs for my girls and they look like they are wearing the same thing everyday because all you see in the pictures are their coats.

Sounds like a great day so far! I'm nervous about that foreshadowing though...don't leave us hanging too long!

Ahhhh....teenagers and sleeping in late. Something I am very familiar with. I honestly think they can't help it. Some of them are just wired to stay up late and sleep late, but it can be so frustrating on a family trip.

It sounds like your AK day is off to a good start! You got some nice pics and I love the conservation station. They way the care for the animals and the types of surgery they do is very interesting.

Drizella will be great. I can't wait to see the pictures. You really need to do a trip report.

Hi !!I'm reading along !!!!

Thanks Rosie! I hope you have a great meet this weekend.

We've learned Michelle is much easier going if we let her sleep in some. This ended up being the only day she did it. I think she realized how much she missed out on in the past.

It was tooo cold this trip. Too many pictures of our otter wear.

I'm hoping to get lunch up tonight. :thumbsup2

On a average day Michelle sleeps in real late. School started last week so she can't sleep until noon anymore. It's very frustration when you want the whole family to experience something. I'm not good at waiting either.

I'm here! It will take me a while to get caught up but I'll try.

:welcome: I'm so glad you made it over. Take your time getting caught up. I put links in the second post.

After taking the train back to Africa we started walking toward Asia. Of course I'm still texting Michelle back and forth. She finally got picked up but now the bus was picking up people at POR. This was the one thing that scared me about the buses, sharing with POR. Because we usually hit rope drop it wasn't a concern for us, but since Michelle was heading in later she got stuck in this situation.

As we walked toward Asia we lucked up and caught DiVine. Dennis had the camera so I asked him to take some pictures. He took one.

We all stopped to watch her for a little while. We looked around and no one could find Dennis. He left us! He took this while he was rushing off.

We caught back up with Dennis near Yak & Yeti. Still no Michelle. "Where are you?". "On the bus on the way to AK." We grabbed seat around the big foot thing and waited. The girls went to a little area where they made paper flowers. Dennis took these photos.

And I fretted.

Honestly it's not that big of a deal. People are late all the time. I think the thing that bothered me the most was she didn't head my warning and in being late it was affecting everyone else. It's the whole being considerate to others. That is so hard to teach a child.

Finally we saw her crossing the bridge towards us. It was time to enter Yak & Yeti and to try a restuarant we had never tried.

After checking in we took some seats to wait, you know the whole "hurry up and wait". This guy was in the waiting area.

We didn't wait long until we were seated in the downstairs area at a big table in the corner.

More to come.

Once we were seated and comfortable every one removed their jackets. We were finally able to display our Saints shirts in their full glory. Our server David came to take our drink order. He took one look around and asked if we were Saints Fans. He then told us he was from Indianapolis and was a Colts fan. Of course it was on his name tag too. No hard feeling, we were soon joking around. We ordered our drinks and Dennis got a delicious adult beverage. This picture shows Michelle's disappointment that she is still too young to drink at Disney.

I don't remember what everyone ordered except for Danielle and I since she was sitting next to me. I had the Shaoxing Steak and Shrimp. Danielle had the Duck with Anandapur Glaze. In 2007 she had some of Dennis duck appetizer at Le Cellier and loved it. Since then she swears she loves duck. Well she didn't love this duck so we ended up switching. I thought it was real good, she thought me steak was real good. She is a big meat eater. Next came my favorite part of the mead, desert. Again I don't remember what everyone else got but Michelle and I got the mango pie and Danielle got the sorbet. They were both fabulous. I could so go for some mango pie right now.

Sorbet.

Looks like Dennis has some cheesecake.

Lauren had chocolate.

Overall our meal was good but not something I would put on the list for a repeat in the near future. Maybe on a trip or two away.

After lunch we separated for a little while. Michelle and Dennis went to go get fps for everyone to ride Kilamangaro Safari, I took the girls on the trail behind the tree entering it from the ITTBAB's exit and Jada went on a smoke break. We had plans of meeting back up at Festival of the Lion King.

Here's a picture of the girls with their paper flowers they made while we were waiting for Michelle.

The trail was pretty much deserted but we did run into another couple. They offered to take a picture of the 3 of us.

I took these of the animals.

We finally made our way to meet up with the others here.

Next update will be Festival of the Lion King.

Oh man, mango pie?? Yum!

My mom and I really enjoyed our meal there in May! We were too full to try for dessert though - next time, for sure!!:goodvibes

Glad Michelle made it - love the pics Dennis took while waiting for her. I totally get the frustration with trying to teach a child about how what they do/do not do can affect everyone else. It's a tough job, being a mom.

Love FOTLK - can't wait to hear about it!

Mango pie was the BOMB!

We like our meal here just wasn't overly impressed. I would do it again just not back to back.

My kids just think I'm nagging them. They don't see the big pictures. Michelle is getting better. She was really great this trip and not the diva she was in the past. She missed out on the trip in June so she was just happy to be on this one. When she was in high school she always complained we were there too long. She says she can only handle just so much family togetherness.

Love FOTLK!
