Music Education, but he wants to get his Masters as he's teaching. I know we have school here that will help pay if you get it while teaching. Don't know yet where he will end up. His wife is in Madison, WI doing a program. She has her biology degree and when she finishes she'll work in a lab reading slides. They will end up where ever she ends up working. She finishes in August. No matter what they want to get out and spread their wings. Basically they want to be anywhere but here. They want to live somewhere that has 4 seasons and snows.

J'ai comme votre voyage rapport tres bien!! :)

I've only had high school french so be easy on me. But I do now so far you think is good. My Dad's family always would ask after a meal if it was "tres bien". So far I under stand "I" ? "your" "trip report" and "very good".

Thanks for joining in. I'm hoping to get the "why" and maybe "when" up tonight. I can't wait to get to the "surprise revealed".

The french caught my eye aussi (that's french for too). Looking forward to hearing about it.

Hi, joining in! I followed you over from Meghan's PTR! Can't wait to hear about your trip!

I'm in!!!!! Now going back to read.

One thing about the title.... I remember having a conversation in Rosies room one night with Jordan, Winkers and DJay. DH and I were explaining to them what laissez les bon temps rouler and Lagniappe means. :thumbsup2

:welcome: Yes we have lots french saying down here, I just wish I actually spoke french. My dad was full blooded Cajun and spoke cajun french until he went to school. Had to learn English in school. We use to beg him to teach us but he wouldn't. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, considered the big city so I'm a city girl through and through. I don't have that cute cajun accent or even a southern drawl. Thanks for joining in and I hope you enjoy it and participate in the fun!

My dad was the same way. He wouldn't teach us. I knew more cajun french when I was a kid because all of our elderly relatives spoke it constantly. But if you asked anyone to teach you, they wouldn't. I believe most cajun french speaking families are this way. Why?? Because they were told NOT to speak french and my dad (as most kids were back then) was not allowed to enter school until he could speak English. This is also why our heritage is dying out.:sad2:

Hi, saw your title thread and had to check it out. Read your intro and I can't wait for the rest. By the way this is my first ever ever reply post of any kind since I joined. I've just been having a blast reading some completed trip reports and decided to subscribe to new reports. Looking forward to the rest.

When I was playing around with the title Jordan said the same thing.:lmao:

Did you dad have any trouble saying any sounds? My dad couldn't pronounce three right or my cousin Leah's name. My mom use to say it was because he was ridiculed in school for not being about to speak English. It's very hard to understand what my uncle says when he talks even worse over the phone. He lives in Lake Charles. I'm so sorry to see this dying out. Cajun cooking is so big but not the cajun language.

:welcome: and I'm so honored that your first post in on my little ole trip report. I love reading trip reports too. It's addicting! I hope you chime in lots now.

Why we're going...

Why do any of us go to Disney? Because we love it! For the most part I don't need a reason. I would go at the drop of a hat if I could afford it. But most of our trips do have a purpose. The purpose of this trip was to make up for missing our family trip in June 09. That trip was originally planned to be a family trip to celebrate both girls birthdays. Michelle & Danielle are 9 years and 2 days apart. Plus this was the year you got in freeeeee (said in my best Adam Sandler voice from Bedtime Stories) for your birthday. That trip is covered in detail on my first trip report. The link is in my signature if you're interested. The short version is Dennis didn't get to go due to switching jobs and not having any paid time off yet. The real ironic part is that as soon as he made General Manager he was given 4 weeks vacation and is now scrambling to use it before the end of June. Michelle didn't go because she didn't want to be go for as long as we would be gone and we couldn't work out a way to shorten it for her that didn't cost us a fortune. Added to that is the fact she bought tickets to see Dane Cook in New Orleans on the same day we planned to leave. In the end they both really regretted not going. All it took was for Dennis to just mention going for Mardi Gras and I was on board.

I had already been looking into possible trips, Disney has just announced the "stay for 4 get 3 free" again. But we've only ever stayed value and that deal was "stay for 5 get 2 free". I was already plotting and planning how I could work this to my advantage. The girls would have 2 days off from school for Mardi Gras so they would have to miss some school. I was also finally ready to try a surprise trip. I love planning and drive my family nuts with non stop talk and planning when we have a trip coming up. I always thought there was no way I could plan a surprise trip because I would have the hardest time keeping my mouth shut. But for this trip it would work to my advantage to keep it a surprise because I knew Danielle and Lauren would miss some school. Right now they go to the same school. And the school have gotten so picky about missing unless they're on their death beds. If the girls didn't know it would make it all the more easier to write the sick note once we got back. To be fair Danielle has had perfect attendance for 4 of her 6 years of school. She hadn't missed a day up until the trip either and was quite proud of herself. She was counting on getting that award once again. Another reason I wanted to do a surprise trip was some of the reports I've read on the boards. I loved the excitement leading up the big reveal. Danielle was watching AFV one day and they ran some clips of kids being told they were going to Disney World and she loved it. She said right then she would love to be surprised with a trip to Disney. So as soon as I had Dennis thinking this was all his idea I also told him I wanted it to be a surprise and he was on board. He loves to surprise us. He buys most of the Christmas presents and is to good at keeping it a secret, much better than me.

November 9th we booked our trip. I called Jada and filled her in. We were originally planning to do a trip together between Christmas and New Years of 2010/2011. She loved the idea of keeping it a secret too. Michelle was on board and was my biggest helper with the secret plans. She made the cover for the binder and my notebook. The binder stayed hidden in her room which wasn't hard since you can't find anything in that mess. We could discuss Disney planning in general in front of the girls since they thought we were going at New Years. This helped with getting opinions of what they would like to eat or do.

I think that covers the why.

Up next is the when and planned itinerary.

I think a surprise sounds like so much fun! I'm afraid Baylor would get mad at us though....
He's pretty testy about going to Disney....

So glad you don't have to go through that!

I did worry she would be upset about not getting her perfect attendance award this year. The last time she missed it was because of Disney too. But it was NOT planned for her to miss school. Our Christmas break was shortened due to the days they missed for Hurricane Katrina.

Baylor just doesn't know how blessed he is. Danielle would love to go to Disney as often as y'all go.

Baylor missed perfect attendance because of our October trip in 2008. He actually told us we were irresponsible taking him out of school.....
We told him he didn't have to go.
He decided to go.:rotfl2:

He loved MNSSHP!
