We were at the GF for tea one day and saw an older lady sitting listening to the band. She had bags and some sort of fur object. A few nigths later she was in the same spot witht he same things around her. Just to be sure, is she real or part of the GF scenery?

No She is real. I had the pleasure of speaking to this woman when we were there in April and she really is a very sweet lady. The bags are filled with stuffed animals. She is widowed and lives near by. When her husband was alive they used to go to the GF and listen to the piano player. So she still goes and sits and listens. It brings her peace and she feels that her husband is there with her.

I saw her there too in August. Up until then, I really thought she was an urban legend, but she is definitely real.

Why the bag of stuffed animals?????...just curious. However, it is a very sweet story.

I don't know why the bag of stuffed animals. I was curious myself but felt it was out of line to ask.

oh my god :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

this is too sweet princess:
she seems very cute!
She is very sweet. She told me that next time I come there make sure I stop by to see her that she will remember me. I walked away in tears.

The music is so nice to listen to. Im glad she can reminisce.
Me too. This is something that keeps her husband close to her.

She had been going to the GF for years with her husband and bag of stuffed animals. Her husband passed away this year, but she continues to go and listen to the music with her stuffed animals. The staff at the GF are very nice to her. I never talked with her in the three years that I've seen her there, but the staff says that she is a very nice lady and management will never ask her to leave.

There was a thread about her, geez, at least 6 months to a year ago. Others have talked to her and the thread wasn't always nice, but it was the first I've heard of her.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I LOVE DISNEY!

(Sorry for shouting).

I love that you can't tell the real from the "scenery."

A while back, I was at 8 Trax at Pleasure Island (RIP), and saw a guy dressed in a 80's-type suit, dancing all alone with his jacket over his shoulder. I KNEW he was a "prop." When I asked the bartender, she told me that he was not a cast-member and visited the club all the time.

When I was a kid, we overheard two older woman who were looking at the ducks in the pond by the Castle. One said, "It's amazing what they can do! Robot ducks!"

I love the little things like this- you can't tell what's real and what's not!

Isn't there also a couple that carries a towel baby everywhere? They make people actually refer to the towel as a real baby.

I heard about that but don't know if it's true or not.

I've heard about her but have never seen her. I never knew the reason she was there! How sweet.

When I was at MNSSHP in September I saw a lady walking around all dolled up with puppets on her hands talking to the CMs. I dont think it was part of her costume. Anyone know her story?

Her and her husband have been there for years. she thinks the teddy bears are her children, she told us herself they were her children. her husband passed away around july or aug.
also there are the towel baby couple thay have also been staying at the grand for several years, I always saw them in july and dec.their baby has grown over the years. at 1900 park fare they have the chef come to the table to bring the baby food. I have witnessed this myself and the staff told us all about them.

That is so sad but so sweet. IF the GF and the piano player keep can keep her memories and the "magic" of her love alive that is wonderful. Kudos if the cast members for watching out for her. She must also be lonely and having people to talk to and share her stories is great.

oh! I feel bad. I wish I had talked to her. I thought she was playing part a for some event that may be taking place. That is sad but such a sweet thing also.

My husband and I saw her last week. We had tea one day and we went back two days after to have dinner at Narcoosee's. She was sitting in the lobby, dressed in black and had a black suitcase with a stuffed animal on top of it. I noticed her and thought maybe she was checking out of the hotel and enjooying the sceneary and music but when we came back a few days later I saw her again. What a sad and beautiful story. I definately count my blessings each and every day.

I remember seeing the lady years ago. She was there with her husband listening to the piano player. How sad that her husband passed. It is nice to have a place to go and remember all the good memories. I think I may have a picture of her in the background of one of my pictures. I think she may be in the background in the Great Hotels show on the Grand Floridian. I have it on DVR and will take a look.

We saw her in Sept. when we were visiting G.F. What a wonderful story and I'm so happy that CM are kind to her and she is able to have her memories.:cloud9:
