Ladies-Where Do you Clothes Shop?

There have been lots of great options posted, but I will add one that hasn't been: J Jill. I happen to have two stores locally, but they also have catalog/online shopping. I love their mix/match clothing, and the fact I can use many pieces for home and work. Their clothes are NOT trendy...just classic clothes with an updated feel in beautiful styling and colors, with impecible attention to detail. Now, they can be expensive, but their clothes move to sale prices quickly. I recently picked up a beautiful shirt that had been $129, for $14.99.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Ross, Marshall's or TJMaxx yet! They will have almost all of the brands listed here (almost) at half the price. Marshalls is always my first stop when I'm looking for clothes, if I can't find what I need there, I'll go to the actual retail store.

Probably because the OP said in her first post that she wasn't interested in shopping there.

I'm yet another Loft lover! I am 30 and a 12/14. I just started a new job and need to dress business casual instead of scrubs, so I've made a lot of purchases in the last 3 weeks.

Our local Loft has all sale items an extra 40% off right now! I got shirts for $10-12! I got a $80 pair of pants for $20! Loft has some great sales and really cute stuff.

I do like Chico's as well, but they closed our nearest store so I don't shop there as much now. You have to catch their sales too!

My advice is to register at these stores' websites for coupons.

Have fun shopping, and congrats on the weight loss!

I can't stand shopping in stores like that. I just don't have the patience to go through all of those racks and weed through the crap!

Congratulations on your weight loss!

I went from a size 14/XL down to an 8/Medium two years ago, and it was such a relief when I started getting clothes that fit properly. But it wasn't cheap, buying a new wardrobe!

The advice about the bra is spot on.

I'm 40, and I find I can't shop at Old Navy anymore. The cheaper quality of the fabrics, the lack of finishing details, and the fact the clothes usually only last one season, maybe two... those things drive me crazy. So for me, it's Gap, Banana Rep, and Jacob. Consistent quality, the clothing lasts, I don't have to spend forever in the store.

Anthropolgie and White House Black Market -- they both have funky, fun, and age appropriate pieces without being frumpy. Just watch the clearance racks :-).

Congratulations! What an amazing accomplishment! I love Old Navy (if I need something cheap), Gap, Ann Taylor Loft (their sale rack is amazing!), Banana Republic (only will ever shop sale rack, but their clothes are so well made), love to window shop at J Crew. I do also buy a lot of stuff at Target and Maurice's (they only seem to be in small towns, our closest mall is 45 min away, so I guess that's where they try to position themselves).

Congrats on your weight loss - that's amazing!!

I buy most of my clothes from Kohl's, great deals, and lots of options. Definitely get the Kohl's credit card, as they send you coupons all the time for up to 30% off your total purchase.

Also I go to JCP & sometimes SEARS (surprisingly!!) - as they carry Lands End.

NY&Co has great clothes. I like to combine their sales with coupons.

I'm very close to your (OP's) age and I wholeheartedly second NY&Co. I'm a teacher and consistently find adorable clothes there--people stop me all the time to ask me where I get my clothes and to say how cute I dress. If they only knew how much I pay for things! NY&Co. ALWAYS has a 30% off coupon or $30 off a $75 purchase and their clothes and accessories are adorable and very reasonably priced (especially with a coupon--don't shop w/o a coupon. If one isn't available right away, I promise you, there will be one in a day or two LOL). Sign up for their emails and you'll get coupons weekly, if not more. Plus, NY&Co. is good for the ego b/c their clothing runs large. ;)

I also love Target's clothes, believe it or not. More their tops and dresses than their pants but, again, very reasonably priced and stylish.

While I DO like Ann Taylor Loft, I must not have quite mastered their sales and/or coupons as whenever I go in there, the clothing seems rather high priced. Hey, I'm on a teacher's budget LOL. By the way, the LOFT does offer discounts to teachers. I believe it's somewhere between 10-15%.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS on the weight loss, it's so incredibly hard to do so good for you!!

I forgot about White House Black Market. I buy my "party" clothes there. They are a bit pricey , but I always shop the sales racks. Usually can spend less than 100.00 on a special outfit if I need something sparkly and dressy, which only happens maybe once or twice a year. Those outfits last a while. I am still wearing a gorgeous white jacket I bought 3 years ago. Think I spent 50.00 on it and get compliments on it all the time.

Congrats on the weight loss!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 i like Ann Taylor Loft, more than half of my clothes are from Ann Taylor Loft, they are fit well and have a affordable price.:lovestruc

Congrats on the weight loss!
I have recently lost a lot of weight and went from a 14 to a 4. Kohls has been my new best friend. Quality, Stylish, and cheap!

I'm about your age and a SAHM as well. I tend to dress more casual, jeans and t-shirts mostly. I like t-shirts and tanks from Lands End, they're well made and hold up for more than one season. For shorts I like Gap and Jcrew. For "play" clothes that I don't expect to last as long, like swimsuit cover-ups, beach clothes, and t-shirts for the park I like Victoria's Secret (alot of color variety and I like the "bra tops" for tanks) and Old Navy. Old Navy has some button down camp shirts this year with some stretch that are pretty cute, I bought one and like the quality of it.

If you have a Cato near you they have some cute clothes, too. I got some capris there last week for $17.99 and I love them. They had alot of variety. I like Kohl's also.

Congrats on the weight loss!

I like Coldwater Creek and Lands End.

Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft (sign up and get coupons)
Also, Banana Republic (sales/coupons)
Gap for some casual basics

Not a big clothes shopper here, but when I do, I typically do Banana Republic or J. Crew. I recently bought a shirt and coat from Kohl's for the very first time, and I like them so far.

I dont think anyone has mentioned The Limited yet. I am a HUGE fan of this store, practically all of my clothes are from The Limited. You can get GREAT deals with their coupons and really get some steals. The dress pants are great and fit really well. I am a size 8 there and I dont have to try the pants on. They have different cuts that fit differently and once you figure that out you just stick with that and they fit!:thumbsup2

Congratulations on the weight loss, I'm attempting a similiar weight loss and have only lost 14 of my 70lb goal so it's inspiring to see your post.

I have several friends that are the size you are looking for and they buy a lot at Kohl's and NYC. They also buy consignment stuff at Plato's Closet.
