We had my setting designed with a family diamond placed in the center. I love the setting, it's yellow gold, but now sometimes I wish I had gone with a yellow gold and either platnium or white gold accents. I feel that I can only wear yellow gold as my other jewlery (i.e. earrings, bracelets, etc.) since my wedding set is yellow gold. I know lots of people mix, but it's just a hang up of mine. I have a Mickey watch that is white/yellow gold mixed and I love how it looks. Oh well such is life.

Original bands are yellow gold with a wide band set within of rose gold. Sort of looks like thin yellow, thick rose, thin yellow. This Christmas DH and and I picked out something a little different and exchanged rings of surgical stainless steel. They're polished to a hgih sheen and engraved on the outside to say "Love only you". I love them!

Well, my solitare is in platinum, but when it came time to buy the wedding band, we couldn't quite swing the platinum again so it's in white gold and is a wrap of sorts - you can't even tell the difference, and they look great together. Eventually we might reset it in platinum, but right now people just assume they are both platinum.

DH's is titanium =)

Lisa, I have this "hang up" as well. My original engagement ring was yellow gold, with an antique cut diamond. My wedding band had 4 smaller diamonds across it, and then for our 1st anniversary I got a matching band to go on top and had them all sodered together in the back.

About 5 years ago, I stopped wearing most gold jewelry....I just like the look of silver better with my skin tone and the colors I wear. It always bugged me that my rings were yellow gold, but I wore them anyway.

My SIL's sister is a jewelry appraiser for a wholesale diamond company, and she was always after my DH to get my antique diamond reset - it's a beautiful stone, but the setting just didn't do it justice.

So, about a year ago, one of the smaller diamonds in my wedding band fell out and was lost. My DH suggested I reset the engagement diamond. :)

I now have a beautiful white gold setting, with my original stone, and a half moon diamond on either side. I absolutely love it!!!

We're planning on using the old rings to make something special for DD, for her 16th birthday.

Original engagement & wedding band were white gold. We were young DH bought the ring off of his cousin 2nd hand we bought the band to match. Around our 5th anniv. DH bought me a yellow gold diamond(engagement) ring, He had bought me what is now called an anniversary ring, although back then it really didn't have a "name" as a wedding gift. I wear that as my wedding band. Actually my wedding band was a ring guard. Like I say we were young. lol
I told him for our 25th I would like to get my ring blessed & renew our vows.

Both my wedding/engagement rings are platinum. With almost two carats in diamonds....
In fact when we were at DisneyWorld for our honeymoon, I remember Mickey Mouse grabbing my left hand and whistling at the size of my ring! I have small hands which just make the diamonds look bigger ;)

Mine is yellow gold. That is what I preferred at the time. I have now come to like white gold better, but would not trade the engagement ring I have for anything.

Original set was yellow gold. Just got my 10 year ann. 3 stone ring and its white gold and a very antique looking setting. I think the white gold makes the diamonds seem so clear (and trust me we couldnt afford perfect diamonds)

The jeweler we used recently was great. I like the look of platinum, but she said for the $$ we had to spend, I would be better off with white gold as I could afford to put the money where it mattered, the diamonds.

What a cool idea! My husband just had my diamonds reset for Valentines day. I have the old setting and never thought to reuse it for my daughter - what a wonderful idea. Thanks!

White gold! I can't stand yellow gold, and as the poor college kids we were when we got engaged, platinum was out of the question!

14 kt yellow gold, both my old set and my new one. Dh's first one was yellow with a band of white in the center, 2nd one 14kt yellow (plain), and now 18kt yellow with diamonds and he better not lose this one! ;)

My set is white gold with yellow gold accent's that don't touch my skin.

I have a small marquis solitaire with an enhancer that matches my wedding band.

Mine are yellow gold. I know I'm in the minority, but I really don't like platinum.

My engagement ring is white gold and also belonged to my grandmother. My wedding band is white gold. For our first anniversary, DH bought me a white gold and diamond ring, which I wear as my wedding band.

All of my rings are white gold. Yellow gold just does not look good on me, and platinum just has a look to it that I don't care for (duller maybe?)

I think white gold really enhances the sparkle of a diamond.

My husband has titanium. I think it is a nice manly looking metal.

My engagement ring is yellow gold with a large ruby with diamonds all around it. My wedding band is a v cut shaped band with 15 diamonds.

Original diamond engagement ring and wedding band were set in 14K Gold. My DH gave me a new diamond for our 25th wedding anniversary set in platinum - LOVE IT!
