One of the ways you're supposed to know you're past menopause is if you haven't had a period in a year. Does that mean I could have another one in 9 or 10 months? I was wondering realistically how long you can go between periods. It's been 3 months and I know that I could have another one any time, but do I have to wait a whole year before I'm pretty sure I won't get any more? So what's the longest in-between time? Unfortunately, I can't really discuss this with Mom. Thanks.

From what I understand, you have to have no period for an entire year before you're considered in menopause. Yup, you can go 11 months, then your "monthly visitor" arrives, and your not considered in menopause yet.

"Pre-menopause" can last forever, and be just as annoying:rolleyes:

Let's just say that now is not the time to discontinue birth control! My best friend went 14 months with no period, then got one.

Everyone is different.

yes, please don't discontinue birth control. Lets just say I speak from experience.
