Ladies....question about "The Pill"

I've been on it for 10 years, and never missed a period...I've used Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Nordette, and Alesse. As others have said, get a pregnancy test!

This is fairly common....sometimes the hormones in the pill will thin out the endometrial lining so much that there is not alot there to slough off and come out :crazy2: The chance of this happening is higher for folks who have been on the pill for a while, also for users of certain brands notorious for this such as LoEstrin and Estrostep. What brand are you on?

I switched to LoEstrin in the beginning of December after being on LoOrval for many years. December was a horrible cycle, January was much better (doc said body was adjusting to the hormone change) and then February there was nothing. Only reason I am wondering is because I remembered that over New Year's I was on an antibiotic and we all know what antibiotics do to the pill! I know I should check it out, just haven't had the time to make an appointment to go.

For those of you who have or are on the Pill have you ever had a month that you didn't have a cycle? I don't mean intentionally skipping, but just going along and taking your pills as usual, but not having your period.

Yes!!! That happened very often to me. I never had really heavy cycles and I sure didn't mind missing it. I remember going for pregancy tests a few times but it was nothing.

Happens to me all the time and if it does come it never comes at the same time of the month ,even though I've been on the pill for quite a while

Only once in 10 years- I was under a HUGE amount of stress and it was just a really crazy time in my life.

Tiggerlover, just run by the pharmacy and get a home test. They are very accurate!

This also happens to me, both with Demulen and Ovcon. I just went to the doctor last week and mentioned it and he said not to worry about it as long as I'm taking my pill everyday and haven't missed any. The first time it happened, I did take a pregnancy test (negative) but after that I got used to it and I don't worry about it. For me, it's not such a bad thing. :thumbsup2 I've noticed that when I don't get a cycle, I don't get PMS as badly, so it's a huge bonus for me.

Uhhh, YES, YIKES, you don't need an appointment, go get a home pregnancy test...NOW. You most definitely could be pregnant.

I've been on the pill off and on for more than 15 years and have NEVER, EVER missed a period while on it.

You definitely need a pregnancy test to rule it out.

I used to go 3 months on the pill without a period. That's just the way my body reacted to the hormones. That's why I stopped taking he pill. It made me wonder what it was doing to my reproductive system. Go to the doctor and (if you are not pregnant) they can put you on a pill with a different hormone makeup (of course then you can have breakthrough bleeding like I did).

Just a reminder that if you are taking antibotics it will increase your risk to get preg.,and St john wart too. (which I was taking and had no idea till I read it here.) LOL so be careful what you take along with your pill. :scared:
