Ladies - pantyhose and sandals/open toe shoes

TG it was a public service announcement.I thought you were asking for advice...:rotfl2:

DO people still wear pantyhose?

Apparently, the lady I saw on the elevator still thinks people do. It's 100 degrees and very humid here. Why, oh why, would you torture yourself with pantyhose.

The point of sandals and open toe shoes is to let the tootsies be free! If you just don't want to display your toes, wear closed toe shoes.

I don't care if the pantyhose are labeled "sandalfoot". Still, just don't do it.

Sorry - can't wear any shoes without nylons - just feel GROSS

It's also a generation thing. I bet the woman in the elevator was an older woman.

My mom is in her 60's and lives in FL and STILL wears hose even in summer! :scared1:

But.... two things she taught me while growing up. 1) A lady never goes out in public with wet hair and 2) A lady always wears hose.

Not sure why those two things have stuck with me all these years, but they have.

I've ditched the hose in the summer. Can't do it. Besides, my legs are nice and tanned and look like they have hose on anyways. I've had a friend pinch my legs before thinking I had hose on when they were bare. :)

But like I said, I DO wear hose in the cooler months.... usually a sheer black with a black heel.

It's mandatory where I work to wear pantyhose. I hate them SO much. They're so uncomfortable. I do wear open toed high heels every once in awhile, but only passive aggressively ;)

I though so, too, until I recently saw some younger women (20s or maybe early 30s) wearing sheer pantyhose in DC this summer.

I do like to wear them in the spring, fall and winter, when my legs have less color on them than in the summer, and I am not wearing open toe shoes. I am 35, BTW.

I'm in my mid-50's and wouldn't be caught in pantyhose. I even wear my close-toed heels without.

Might be a "generational" thing.
I tend to think often it's more of a "fit into clothes" thing. ;) So called older or younger women can both have obvious, unattractive panty lines. Hose can help a little in these situations. (Or, one can do the smarter thing and purchase clothing in the right size--then it's easier to be hose free.)

I don't wear pantyhose EVER. I hate the way they feel and I don't like the way they look. Down with Pantyhose in general no matter what kind of shoe you're wearing. I pretty much associate them with 2 things, OLD ladies, and women who didn't want to bother with shaving their legs so they just cover up the hair with pantyhose (my boss does this).

I agree, yuck, but if you have to wear hose for work and still want to wear open toed shoes, you could always buy the toeless hose. Donna Karan makes some:

They have a little loop that hooks around your big toe to hold them in place.

I hate to sound dense because I haven't worn a skirt or dress in years in colder weather, but what do you do, just go bare legged in the winter?

Actually hosiery is the reason I won't wear dresses. :lmao:

Or, they can buy spanx... no undergarments necessary and no hose down to your toes.

This wouldn't have worked at my old job. I was given the responsibility every year of telling our summer college employees that even though their belly buttons or toes might be cute, we don't want to see them. I'm so glad I don't work there anymore.

I belong to the pantyhose hater's club. I can't remember the last time I wore them. I can't remember the last time I wore a dress. I prefer pants.

No, because you wouldn't be wearing open toed shoes or sandals in cold weather. Or at least I wouldn't!

No you wear closed toe shoes!

If you insist on covering your legs with something in the winter, I'd suggest opaque tights. With closed toe shoes.

I can see how some closed toe pump style shoes may be uncomfortable with out some kid of leg/foot covering but if your sandals hurt, you are wearing the wrong shoes.
