Ladies Only - How/where to give DW new diamond ring?

You are so sweet. I am going to have to let my hubby read this thread as I was never really proposed too.

However, I am not sure of what kind of cash outlay you have but maybe renting that Grand One yacht to have a private dinner on the boat during the fireworks.

I got engaged behind the Castle right after Wishes and it was perfect. I saw someone propose during Wishes when Jiminy says "what do you wish for?" and yeah, I cried with the girl too! lol! She'll be thrilled no matter what you do though. :)

Oh, I have tears in my eyes. This is my vote for your wonderful anniversary surprise. Whatever you do, I know that she will be happy with your thoughtfulness. :wizard: :wizard: your way, and a little wish that my DH was so romantic! Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations!! My DH and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary there in February. I guarantee that any time and any place would be perfect for your surprise! If my DH were to do this for me, I would hope we would be really close to the resort! :goodvibes

You guys are all missing the obvious answer... on splash mountain right before the drop! Then you can get the moment on picture too!

If you want romantic romantic, fireworks are good. If you're not good with talking, just taking her hand as you both watch the fireworks and then slipping it on her finger would be sweet.

Or if she loves characters, you could ask ahead of time if you could have her favorite character "help" you propose.

If she somehow says.."oh but dear I don't need this diamond ring, your love is enough" could you perhaps send it my way???!!!

Seriously though, my DH would worry he would lose the ring in the dark of the fireworks! But I do love that idea. I am sure a CM would help out at one of the restaurants too. Congratulations on your anniversary.

For your consideration. Last year for our 45th anniversary, I surprised my DW with a new diamond eternity ring. It took a lot of effort to conceal the ring in my luggage and in the room so she wouldn't find it beforehand (thankfully there's only one key to the in-room safe). I secretly made an ADR (then PS) at Victoria and Alberts. She knew the ADR's for each night of our trip however, I left Tuesday night "open" so we could be somewhat spontaneous. That night I suggested we go to the GF and have a drink in the lounge. Afterwards I suggested we walk down and take a look at Citricos menu. When we approached the restaurant I steered her to the door of V&As and said let's see what's in here. Even after entering the restaurant she still didn't know where we were. When seated, during the champagne toast she received her new ring preceded by some very personal words only she and I will ever know. Needless to say the dinner was "magical" and the staff (who were in on the subterfuge) did everything they could to make this truly a special night.

Several months later, in planning our next trip to WDW I asked DW if she would like to have dinner at V&A's again during this trip. Her reply was, "No, nothing could ever match that evening and I want it to be my memory of V&A's forever".

Well, we see about that. After all we have a 50th coming up in four years :rolleyes1

There is a little Cinderella fountain on the right side of the castle that gives you a quiet little out of the way place at WDW. It's on the path up to the castle from the Tomorrowland side, between the castle and the area where Storytime with Belle is. Everytime I pass it, I think what a cute place it would be for a couple.

Jerseydisfan --

Your story gave me goosebumps. Good for you to plan such a wonderful night for your wife.

Since you are going around the holidays, what about the sleigh ride out of WL? Just make sure the driver knows to keep the carriage just for the 2 of you. That would be very romantic as it goes around the woods behind the WL. Maybe if you time your sleigh ride just right you might catch some of Wishes.

This is exactly what I was going to say. It is not something they have all year round, a bit more "special"

I WISH my husband would do something like this for me...congrats to you for thinking of surprising her with something so special. :flower: I have to "nudge" my husband to "think" of things like this and it still doesn't happen...

Good luck!

OH I like the castle idea - maybe order the Cinderlla slipper dessert & have the waiter put it on the slipper before it's served...you could even make a sweet little sign that says something like " for my forever princess" you know on like a namecard size & give that to the waiter to put on the plate too....make sure you ask for a table looking out the window if you can..

if she's an adventerous type a scavenger hunt kinda thing would be fun....leading up to the ring or dinner or dessert I'm sure we could help you come up with clues pretty easily on this board. That sure could be fun and add to the suspense.

I, for one, did not find the sleigh ride romantic at all. In fact, I found the dark ride through the woods to be pretty boring.

I would like to thank everyone for their ideas. While I am not 100% sure, I will probably present her with the ring near Cinderalla Castle. 2nd choice would be during a quiet dinner.

If the Wedding Pavilion wasn't such a long walk (without sidewalks - I think), I'd suggest that we go for a walk over there...

What a lovely idea!!

My DH likes to do things like this in a very downplayed way to surprise me...he'll wrap up a small box between two packages of socks so when I open the socks, thinking "okay, nice...socks...what's next?" the jewelry box pops out. I've also gotten several stuffed animals with lovely necklaces around their necks. My 4 year old son has also casually delivered several gifts. I love it - DH puts so much thought into how to surprise me with ordinary/casual things presenting something beautiful...

That said...maybe you could get talk to Mousekeeping and have them put together a display of towel animals in a proposal or wedding type scene??? One of the animals can then be wearing/presenting the ring (which you could put in there yourself). Or go to get snacks while at the park and tuck the ring (in its box) inside a bucket of popcorn or put the ring around a straw, sitting on top of the soda lid? Or leave it in your coat pocket (it's December...you'll have a coat) and ask her to run and check your pocket for your key/tickets/something...

Book a night at Cirque and put paper "tickets" you make yourself at home into the jewelry box saying "Cirque du Soleil" and the date and time. Present it to her, all wrapped up with a bow. When she opens it and sees you're taking her to Cirque (which I understand is EXCELLENT!) you could say something like, "what? Tickets? How did those get in there? You were supposed to have this..." and give her the ring.

If you do want something more planned and formal - well everyone here has such great ideas!!! The castle (tell her Cinderella is lovely and all that, but you prefer YOUR princess!!), Wishes, Illuminations, a favorite restaurant...you just can't go wrong.

Since you're there at Christmastime you could even sit down in front of one of the gorgeous resort Christmas trees and simply give it to her. I would recommend the tree inside at VWL...the villas tree is so beautiful and totally traditional Christmas and it would be quieter than the WL lobby. Maybe have dinner at Artist Point afterwards? Or get the AP Berry Cobbler to go and enjoy it in front of the fireplace?

Congratulations on 25 years!!! Enjoy your anniversary and being at the World!

I say wait until after the fireworks, and most everyone else has left MK, and just the two of you are standing in front of Cindy's castle. Say some sweet stuff...( ;) ) get down on one knee and do your thing. But thats just me..I would want the sweetness of the castle behind me but not want the crazyness of all the people around, I would want it to be a quiet moment with the two of us.

Let usk now what you decide!

I'm not a fairytale, happily ever after kind of girl but if your wife is I bet anything involving the castle is a safe bet.

I hope you have a great trip, I'm sure your wife will love whatever you decide.

Wow! I am very impressed!!!! Good job!!!! :Pinkbounc
