At age 42 I have seen plenty of male and female docs. I generally prefer men.
Seems they are just so respectful and caring about any issues.

Maybe because they do not have the plumbing?

I used to have a female midwife but she retired.:( I tried another female MD but she is a birth control pusher. She pushed aside my reasons for not wanting to take them which was ridiculous. On the topic of blood clot risks after age 35, she said since I didn't get a clot with pregnancy, I most likely never will. I switched to a male for my upcoming visit. He comes highly recommended so Im hopeful.

Male. I've been seeing a male ob-gyn for 17 years and I love him. He is excellent at his job. The one time I saw a female I was quite unimpressed.

As for the remark that someone will only see a male because they are supposed to be looking down there - well, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read.

I like the males better; and I feel weird writing this but men are supposed to look at women; KWIM??? I feel weird w a woman looking at my privates.~ maybe weird for me to feel this way; but it makes sense to me;)
Sounds like my elderly mom, and I thought it was just an "old fashioned" opinion. :confused3 She also doesn't think priests should marry...she doesn't want to think about them doing "that". ("Mom, why are thinking about ANYONE doing "that"?") Bless her heart and soul.
Some here seem to be somehow sexualizing visiting a gyno in a way. I've never even thought of doing that.
Me neither. Altho I have joked that that's as close as I'll ever come to having an affair. ;)
Both! My regular ob/gyn is female, my gynecological oncologist is male. The gender means nothing to me, it's all about the individual person.
I agree. And I'm sorry you've needed an oncologist. :(

I am very self-conscious so I have always had female OBGYNs if I have any choice in the matter.

me too!! When I was pregnant I had to see all the doctors in the practice so that when I went into labor I would be comfortable with whoever was the doctor on call at that time. One of the doctors in the practice is a man and he is actually on of the nicer doctors. I discovered when I was pregnant that I ended up losing some of my self consiousness if that is a word  but now I've gotten it back. sigh... So back to a woman doctor I go :goodvibes

My ob-gyn is currently a woman, but I've had both men and women ob-gyns in the past.

Have a female right now but had male one longer before this one. I find male doctors are more gentle.

My Gyn is female. However the office is an OB/Gyn and has mostly women with two male OB's. I picked this particular practice years ago b/c the office had more women than men. I feel more comfortable with a woman Gyn as opposed to a male. Besides, for me, it's easier to describe issues I'm having with a woman who can sometimes understand first-hand if she's been through it herself.

All my doctors are male (Internist, Cardiologist, Gynecologist, Dentist, Opthamologist). My doctors have always been male and I've never really given their gender much thought. Most have come from recommendations so I chose the doc based on friends/family experiences with that person. DS9 sees a male pediatician and DD14 sees a female in the same practice (when she was 11-right after she got her period, she asked if she could switch to a female doctor because she felt more comfortable talking about "girl things" with a female doc.)
