I picked female, but I don't go to this doctor because she's female. She just happens to have been the best doctor around here and is very informative and personable. My previous doctors were all male.

I used to see my internist but when I started having some issues she said no more.........go tot eh gynocologist. He is good and in the office so I see him. I am way more comfortable with women Dr's though.

I have a mixed practice.. 3 males, 1 midwife. Honestly I like all my male drs better than the midwife.. she just annoys me!

My current doc is a male. But I have had a wonderful female doc as well.

It doesn't matter much to me as long as they are terrific.

I also think you should have an "Other" category what if your doctor's name is Pat and you just can't tell? :lmao:

Mine is female. I used to go to our regular family practioner, but he is so quiet. He never said a word to me before/during the exam and it just made me so uncomfortable. So I switched (same office), and she talks with me and makes me feel a lot more comfortable during the procedure.

My doctor is a female, but not a Gynocologist, she's a Family Physician.

Hmmmm......people were just talking about this on another MB I go on....*eyes you suspiciously* lol

Mine is a female. I've had a male in the past, but I find I'm a lot more comfortable talking about female stuff with a female doctor.

I normally see a female, but since there are more males in the practice I do sometimes see one of them if I need to go in and she isn't available.

Mine is male. I've gone back & forth but discovered the males are much more gentle so now my Dr is male. I don't know why they are more gentle, maybe they are more concerned with being perceived as too rough but whatever the cause they are simply more gentle, and I like a gentle OB or Gyn. Of course, this is just my experience so I'm sure there are gentle females, I just never met one.

Mine is female and have never had a male. I just don't think I'd be as comfortable with a male. The odd thing is that when I have a baby, I want a male obstetrician to deliver my baby. I have no idea where that comes from. lol

I don't currently have one, I see the nurse practitioner at my Dr's office for everything, including the annual well woman. She is awesome.

I've had both male and female ob/gyns. I've had good (and bad) experiences with each. My current gyn is a male doctor, and I couldn't be happier and have recommended him to several friends. I found him when the female doctor I was seeing turned out to be extremely unsympathetic.

My OB/GYN is currently male. Been seeing him since I was a teen, even driving 40 minutes to see him...just never found another that I liked in my current city. I want to switch to a female.

That being said, my RE (Fertility specialist) is female and I love her. She can relate to me a lot more than my male dr ever could.

I currently have a male. I've had three females in the past and I would call them "unsympathetic" like the PP described.

A (female) friend that is a physician said that most females that wide up as gynecologists are there because the couldn't make it into their specialty of choice. Which may explain this. They don't really want to be gynecologists and they are unhappy about it.

I'm sure there are female gynecologists for whom the specialty was their first choice and female gynecologists that are wonderful and their patients love them. I just haven't found one.

Both!

I go to a group practice with 1 male and several females. I actually prefer the male.
