Hi all moms!!

Dh and I will probably be going to WDW right after Thanksgiving this year. By that time, we're hoping to be between 2 and 4 months pregnant :goodvibes .

Here are some questions (please forgive any "silly" questions):

1) How quickly would you get tired from walking?

2) What kind of rides did you/didn't you go on?

3) Where did you stay and did you choose the resort based on being pregnant (convenience/comfort)?

4) Did you have any problems driving or flying?

5) Did you bring anything special with you that you wouldn't bring with you if you weren't pregnant?

6) Did you still enjoy everything?

I may have more as time goes by ;).

Thanks so much for any advice!!

No advice as I haven't had a baby yet, but just wanted to wish you good luck & I hope everything works out!!! :wizard:

Gosh..you are asking "How long is a piece of string" questions. It affects everyone SO differently!

In terms of walking.. to be honest you probably wont notice any difference - anyway you can have a little rest in all the bathroom breaks you will have to take!!!

Everyone is different, some of my friends spent 2 hours in the gym every day of their pregnancy, and some spent the first 6 months in hospital due to morning sickness - mostly.. we have been ok. You do go through this amazingly sleepy stage at the beginning... for me it was from about 6 - 7 weeks to about 14 weeks. We went to WDW when i was 14 weeks.. and I was just about coming out of my sleepy stage!!

This stage for many women is unlike anything you will have experienced - your body will tell you when it wants to sleep.. and there is NOTHING you can do about it!!

I used to walk in from work at 7.30 and walk straight up to bed and sleep until 6.30am!! Then I would sleep in the car on the way to the station (DH was driving!), sleep on the train.. go to work and sleep on the train all the way home.. then in the car then all night!!

I didnt do any rides that were bumpy.. ( I did to the safari, but wished I hadnt!)

The flights etc were just fine (we have a 9 hour flight... )

The resort.. no, at 2 - 4 months pregnant you wont really even be showing.. baby will be size of a peanut! (actualy not sure of size, but it wont be very big!)

Of course you'll enjoy it.. and you will enjoy it all the more because you know next time you go, you will have your baby with you!

Good luck! You really have nothing to worry about, regarding visiting wdw whilst pregnant! Your DH can get used to doing rides without you! It doesnt change when the kids arrive!

I was 15 weeks pg when we took our delayed honeymoon to the World, in Sept '04.

1. Surprisingly, not that much at all!! Toward the end of the night I was tired though. We also took breaks in the afternoon to go swimming and relax. That probably helped a bit.

2. The cool ones! LOL.. just kidding. I remember I didn't go on Space Mountain, Aerosmiths Rockin Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Dinowhirl (or something like that, at AK), Dinosaur. Basically anything that said a pg woman shouldn't ride. I did however go on Kilimongaro Safari and it was fine.

3. It was the hurricane hell time of last year.. First booked YC, then BC, then BWI, then we had to cancel and rebook to avoid a hurricane and ended up at WL. No, didn't book thinking of being pg.

4. Nope

5. Maternity clothes.. :earboy2:

6. ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! There is SO MUCH to do that being pg didn't hinder our fun at all!!!

Go and have a GREAT time!!

I went to WDW this past February when I was 5 months pregnant. Hope these answers to your questions help:

1) How quickly would you get tired from walking?
We didn't get started too early in the morning and we took a break in the afternoon back at the resort for a nap. We also did not stay out late enough for PI or any of the fireworks shows or parades or anything.

2) What kind of rides did you/didn't you go on?
I went on rides like Pirates, TTA, Haunted Mansion, Great Movie Ride, Spaceship Earth, etc. Basically anything that was slow-moving and had no major drops. Of course, I could also see the shows and movies. I did check out the signs at each ride and avoided anything they recommended pregnant women stay off of (like the roller coasters, ToT, etc.). Even if I had read a previous trip report about someone being "fine" on a rougher ride while she was pregnant, I didn't want to take the chance.

3) Where did you stay and did you choose the resort based on being pregnant (convenience/comfort)?
No, just on availability. We split our stay between Pop Century and the Contemporary. I have to admit, taking the monorail was great, but the bus wasn't bad at all.

4) Did you have any problems driving or flying?
We flew - I had no trouble at all. It was about a 2-2.5 hr flight.

5) Did you bring anything special with you that you wouldn't bring with you if you weren't pregnant?
I didn't bring anything special with me.

6) Did you still enjoy everything?
We had an amazing time. We were treating that vacation as our "last fling" before the baby came. I didn't really miss the rides, there's so much more to enjoy and I know we'll be back.

The only other advice I have is to sit down often. I was acquainted with nearly every bench at WDW. DH went on rides and I just relaxed and waited for him. Also, drink a LOT of water.

Good luck and have a great time!

1. I had a high risk pregnancy. I wasn't allowed to lift over 10 pounds, from very early on. Thankfully I was not on bedrest during any of the pregnancy. (With my 1st one, I was on bedrest for 3 months). We live in Central Fl and have PAP. We did Disney in small doses. I didn't really feel tired from walking, but I had alot of pulling of ligaments. The pulling seemed to get worse with lots of excercise. So if it bothered me, I just sat down for a bit and started over again once it went away.

2. In the beginning, I went on rides I though I could handle. I was fine on everything I tried, except the HM and later in the pregnancy Space Ship Earth. On HM is was the sudden movement from forward facing to backwards and upright. It hurt. This was in the 1st trimester. On space Ship Earth, when it went backwards and down hill, the baby must have been pressing on something, but this only happened in the 8th month. I was fine before that.

3. We did not stay on property during any of the months of my pregnancy.

4. Doc just said that if I'm in a car for long period of time to get out and stretch every hour. I was constantly having to make bathroom stops. So we stopped every couple hours on long drives.

5. Didn't bring anything special.

6. Had a great time!

If you having a normal pregnancy, the best advice would be to keep yourself hydrated, listen to your body, and have fun!

I've seen so many pregnant people at WDW lately. I've seen them doing a wide range of rides and attractions. At BB I saw a pregnant person going on slides. I guess whatever you and your doctor say you can handle should be fine. As a rule of thumb, I'd suggest following Disney's guidelines for attractions. For some of the attractions, the reason for no pregnant people is the seat configuration of the attraction, or the way the lap bar goes down. For others, it the bumpiness or jerkiness of the ride.

They don't have this ride at WDW (they do at California Adventure)...the swings ride. Sounded innocent, just a bunch of swings going around in a circle. Nice and gentle right? Well it was gentle. However, the centripetal force of your blood going into your already swollen ankles was the most unpleasant sensation I have ever had on a ride of any sort. Avoid at all costs!

Thanks for all your responses :). I like hearing everyone's different experiences. . .it's very helpful!

Can't wait to read more!!

I was 7 full months pregnant when we went Jan. 1996
1. I didn't get tired from walking, I got tired of being the coat/bag/purse holder.
2. I only went on slow rides, nothing jerky, spinning, or fast.
3. I don't remember where we stayed but pregnancy had nothing to do with it.
4. I did not have problems flying. But, I am a flight attendant so may be an exception to the rule. Drink lots of water. Move your legs and feet. Put pillows behind the small of your back.
5. Did not bring anything special.
6. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy everything. I love the thrill rides and just sitting there watching everyone else have fun did not do it for me. But that is just me. You may enjoy different things than I do.

Hope this helps

Thanks for sharing. I love the thrill rides, too. Splash,Space,Thunder Mountains, RnR, ToT. . .all of them. Dh said he would miss me riding with him. I know that I will be disappointed about that and it won't be the same, but I love other attractions.

I have been twice while pregnant. First time July 1998, 5 months pregnant. I just did what I could. I even went on the Safari in AK. They recommended the first row for us pregnant people. Second time was July of 2000. I was 7 months pregnant and we had our 18 month old son with us. Ok, I do like punishment. That trip was a little over the top. Mostly due to the 18 month old and not the pregnancy. Again, I did what I could. In the afternoons we did the pool and nap time and then went again in the evenings. Not just pregnant, but at THE hottest time of the year. I don't remember being slowed down because of the pregnancy or the heat. I did not go on rides they recommended against. No sense putting my self and the baby in harms way.

Hope that helps and Best Wishes.

When we went to WDW in March 03 I was 18/19 weeks pregnant. Lucky for me, I never had morning sickness so that was never an issue.

1) How quickly would you get tired from walking?

I don't remember exactly how quickly I would get tired, but I do know that we stopped more often than normal. It was so relaxing to just sit on a bench and people watch for a little while, drink some water, enjoy a snack, etc. We never had to leave the park to go back to the room to rest. I was able to make it all day out at a park with some extra stops.

2) What kind of rides did you/didn't you go on?

I avoided everything that had a restriction. I had been to WDW before and knew I'd be back so I didn't see a reason to chance it. My OB/GYN had also advised me to avoid anything with a warning.

3) Where did you stay and did you choose the resort based on being pregnant (convenience/comfort)?

We stayed at the Swan for 1/2 of the trip and then off-site for the second half. My DH is a percussion instructor and his band went to WDW for Magic Music Days so we went a few days early and then met up with them when they arrived since it was free! I hated being offsite! That was our first time offsite and it was hopefully our last! The heavenly beds at the swan were WONDERFUL!! THe location of the swan is great, too.

4) Did you have any problems driving or flying?

We drove. The only problem we had was that I had to stop to use the bathroom more often. ;) My OB/GYN had just advised that we stop every few hours so I could get up and stretch to get the blood flowing again.

5) Did you bring anything special with you that you wouldn't bring with you if you weren't pregnant?

Nope.

6) Did you still enjoy everything?

Yes! It was a really relaxing trip! I never once felt left out or sad that I couldn't ride the big rides. Luckily, my DH was able to ride them with some of his students. I never minded waiting for him...it was nice to sit and relax. I guess it helped that we had been to WDW three times before and knew we'd be going back again. I think the thing I was most sad about was not being able to have a Lapu Lapu drink at OHana that I had been planning on getting!

I was 7 months PG when we went so my answers may or may not help you.
1. I wasn't too tired most of the time, but I also made sure to take small breaks all along the way- sit on a bench when DH and DD were riding something I didn't think I should go on, ride the transit thing that goes through Buzz Lightyear and Space Mountain about 3 times in a row :) (DD actually really liked that one- she was 6)
2. I went on most of the "easy" rides- if my DD couldn't or wouldn't go on it, then I didn't- Like Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, BTMRR, Rockin' Roller Coaster, things like that. Got to enjoy all the boatrides and things- Pirates, Jungle Cruise...

3. We stayed at All Star Movies- not because I was PG but because of the price and what my DD liked- we stayed in the "Toy Story" area and she LOVED it....

4. I didn't fly (but that's because I hate flying and it's too expensive for us honestly) I did fine driving (18 hours, with tons of stops along the way) I was tired once we got there, but then again- I was 7 months PG

5. I brought my body pillow as it really helped with sleeping (although I like to bring it either way so not sure if that counts :) ) also tons of WATER....

6. I had so much fun that trip- I enjoyed it alot and just kept thinking about how great it would be when we went back when the little one was born. DD loved all the attention knowing that it was probably her last trip alone with mommy and daddy....

I am currently expecting and have been twice this year (although this time was it before the baby comes).

As long as you are having a normal pregnancy, you will have a blast at WDW by listening to your body. If you are usually park commandos, that will have to change for this trip (probably). I was 13 weeks pregnant on our first trip in April and the one thing that made it a truly plesant trip for me was getting up, getting to the parks early and then getting back around lunch time (or eating and then returning to our room) and TAKING A NAP. Just an hour or so of real down time, truly napping, allowed me to make it through the whole day without any issues. We also tended to miss the hottest part of the day this way and usually took a dip in the pool at some point which felt great as well.

As far as accomidations, I would make sure that you stay somewhere that at least has a fridge (moderates and up do - and you can rent one at the values) so that there was always food available. If you do get morning sickness, it doesn't always last just in the mornings. Allowing your stomach to get empty is the worst thing a pregnant woman that is having morning sickness can do. You will want food in your room that you can have at a moment's notice. I would eat as soon as I got up and then snack before and after nap time as well as several times during the day. Plenty of water is a must as well.

I have two sons already, so I rode a few rides that say "expectant mothers should not ride" on our trip last week (I am now 21 weeks) so that they could both ride. The best thing you can do for yourself is know the rides. If you have been before, then it wont be a problem. If you have not, then make sure you get a good idea of the ride before you enter.

Good luck on having a little one! They are wonderful and just wait until their first trip!!! :teeth:

Went in June once while pregnant....

1. Never got tired from walking.

2. I avoided all the rides that had posted to avoid. Rode all the kiddie rides with my 2 year old.

3. We stayed off site. Looking back now, should have stayed onsite to make the drive back and forth easier for breaks.

4. I was worried about flying. I get sick and didn't want to take any drugs. Bought those bands you wear on your wrists. Bought them at my AAA office. They worked great. Still use them now on all flights.

5. I think the best thing I brought with me was baby powder with cornstarch. I would "powder-up" as my husband called it in the bathroom on my many bathroom trips. Kept me nice and cool. Felt good, not sweaty all day. My 2 year old daughter loved it too. Would not go to Disney without it now.

6. Had a great time. Was hot, but fun. My DH was a big help with my daughter.

Great advice!!!

lllovell-- I've been to WDW 6 times. . .3 of those were within the last 3 years :teeth:. I do know all the rides pretty much, especially the "faster-paced" ones; keeping that in mind will help a lot as our trip gets closer--thanks!

We will most likely stay in a deluxe: WL or AKL, with a possible split stay with another deluxe.

I didn't know about the snacking issue--thanks again!!

:wave2:

I took my 7 yo DS when I was nearly 8 months pregnant as our "last trip alone". It was extremely emotional for me, probably due to the pregnancy and hormones :rotfl: I was a single mom with him for 6 years and would continue to be a single mom even after his sister was born, so we had a unique relationship, very close, and I think we were both concerned about the big change. Well, the big change is now 8 1/2 and he is 15 1/2 and we're all doing fantastic or as fantastic as you can with a teenager, lol!

As for your questions, I had no problems at all. I didn't go on Thunder Mountain or Space Mountain but I think we did everything else. He was young so we were pretty much even as far as stamina. We walked and rode all day, ate well, and were in bed by 9 each night. Worked for both of us.

We stayed off--site, Comfort Inn at LBV, and ate most of our breakfasts and dinners off-site with the exception of a character meal or two.

Wouldn't trade this experience for anything. We are again doing separate vacations this year, he went with cousins his own age in April and I'm taking my daughter in November. It's just too hard with nearly 8 years between them to keep everyone happy and it's still just me most of the time so I get to take 2 vacations each year, one with each kid, and other one without any

good luck!!

1) How quickly would you get tired from walking?
I was 24 weeks pregnant with twins. I got tired pretty quickly. but we are big "take it easy" WDW visitors. we took 2 days to do epcot and one day at AK. i don't think we even did MK. we went to downtown disney I think too, definitely walked the boardwalk
2) What kind of rides did you/didn't you go on?
went on the land, spaceship earth, the millinium village was there that year and I went on the israel ride - they had a non-moving option LOL, mexico, energy, safari, i'm not sure what else.

3) Where did you stay and did you choose the resort based on being pregnant (convenience/comfort)?
stayed at the swan. wonderfully close

4) Did you have any problems driving or flying?
no but we are only a few hours away

5) Did you bring anything special with you that you wouldn't bring with you if you weren't pregnant?
LOTS of water and a pregnancy support belt (may have only needed that b/c of being pg w/ multiples. did not need it for my next pg). i also brought snacks like banana, cottage cheese, cheese cubes, carrots, granola bars...

6) Did you still enjoy everything?
absolutely! I have a great picture of goofy rubbing my (HUGE!) belly
