Ladies - Hats in the Parks?

I've seen a lot of recommendations to wear hats in the parks when it's very hot. I get it. But I'm not a hat person and I'm having a hard time imagining wearing a hat.

Do you wear hats in the parks? Not Mickey ears, but a hat with a brim, to keep the sun off your face. Anyone want to post a picture?

Thanks!

I defintely do not, never will, never been a hat person at all. I'm not too bothered by the heat, but I do make sure to get some of the spray sunscreen for the part in my hair since I'm super fair haired.

I don't really see a lot of hats on people in the parks, but that might just be not noticing!

One trip I bought a few Disney hats (it was 7th circle of hell hot June) but mainly to cover up my awful looking hair! Generally, I don't wear hats at all and don't really see that many women wearing them in the parks. I think you would be more likely to see someone wearing a visor, but I don't like those either.

And when I did wear the hat, it made my head about 1000% hotter so didn't improve my comfort at all. I just liked to fool myself into thinking that the hat looked better than my hair.

I wear a hat all the time in the sun and don't care what it looks like. The sun is what ages the skin and I don't want this to happen prematurely. (It has payed off too b/c my photoaging is at least half of what my peers is.) On my trip to WD in Feb I will probably wear either a visor, baseball hat or a cotton wide brim. Plus SPF 50. The baseball hats are the most comfortable because you can pull your hair through.

If you're worried about your head retaining too much heat, wear a visor or a "trucker" hat, one of the ones with a mesh back. Yeah, it looks goofy, but whatever. Who are you trying to impress? ;)

I typically wear a visor, that way I can spray my head with water from a mister fan (or just dump water on it) throughout the day. But if you go the visor route, and you have a part in your hair, make sure you use sunscreen on it. And don't forget the tips of your ears, while you're there. :listen:

I always wear something like this

I used to wear visors but then where my hair parted I would get burnt, plus the top of the ears is a very common place to get skin cancer. And the back of the neck fries easily too. So the safari type hats are best IMO. And who cares what you look like? You can take the hat off for photos. Anything is better than skin cancer and heat stroke.

I wear a hat to keep the sun out of my eyes and to keep the water out of my eyes on Kali Rapids.

I've always found that hats make me feel hotter. If it's sunny but not particularly hot then I would wear one, but if it's extremely hot then no way.

My mom wears a hat daily in the parks, something with a wide brim. I have longer hair though and prefer to keep it up and out of the way to stay cool.

Hats are a must for me on hot sunny days or I will get a migraine. I've bought 2 baseball hats and a pink, wide brimmed hat on our trips.

I wear a large-brimmed visor. It covers my face really well, but it isn't hot like wearing a hat.

Also, It's made with a velcro strap so it's adjustable. I keep it fairly loose so it's very comfortable (I hardly remember I'm wearing it). Plus, it's easy to loop around my backpack when I"m not wearing it.

Not a hat person either, unless it's bitter cold in winter time and I have on a nice warm hat!!
However, I have a collection of Disney sun visors in different colors. Wore them at home when I worked out in the yard. Wore them every day that it was sunny at Disney. That Florida sun is brutal!!! They're easy to loop over my arm when we go inside an attraction.
I'd never go without somethng when out in the FL sunshine. Lived down there for over 5 years and even DH bought baseball caps to wear to the parks.
:cool2:

I will definitely be buying a hat today, not because of the sun, but because my hair is super frizzy in this humidity! I straighten it in the morning, and within 10 minutes, it's frizzed out!

I HATE wearing a hat of any type.

Even in this winter's near zero temps, I've worn a hat only when absolutely necessary-- say, when shoveling snow. The moment I get into my nice warm car, that hat comes off.

So there's zero chance that I'm wearing a hat in Florida in the summertime.

Fortunately, even though I'm prone to sunburn-- I have the blue eyed, blonde hair Irish heritage thing going on-- I have a thick head of hair. Even when it's fairly short, it protects my scalp from sunburn.

I also adore sunlight, so sunglasses are rarely worn while I'm in Disney. (Driving is another matter.)

I wear a ball cap, nothing fancy (usually a NASCAR driver or a Minnie Mouse one I have). I have hat hair all day and I don't care. What I have found with hats is to take them off anytime you are indoors. That will release the heat that can accumulate up there. You can also do this when under shade of any kind. It does really help. The bill on the cap helps with the sun in the eyes. I also wear big sunglasses for that.

I'm not a person who has a lot of pictures of herself at Disney World so the hat hair doesn't bother me. If there is a photo opportunity, I just stick the hat on my head and go with it. That is me, at that moment, having a good time. That is what people will remember, not that my hair was perfect.

I'm not a hat person either. However, I always wear one at Disney, mainly to protect my face, suncreen isn't enough, don't want wrinkles! A hat also makes me feel cooler, since I'm not feeling that hot sun beating on my head. I usually wear a bucket style hat (easy to fold up & stick in a bag). I also bring a baseball style hat to mix it up. I've tried not wearing a hat in the parks & the heat definitely effected me more.

I am not a hat person and don't wear one at Disney. Hair goes back into a bun and that's it. I would want to remove the hat on certain rides and in restaurants and shows, and I know my hair would be a hot sweaty mess if it had been under a hat all day. Slicking it back into a bun allows me to add water to it when I need to which keeps it cooler and looking quasi decent (or at least presentable! ;)) We race from shade to AC whenever we can when we are there during the summer, so I'm not in direct sun for long periods of time anyhow.

I never ever ever wear a hat, totally ruins my hair style, and I cannot stand flat hair at disney, so I wear one of those headache free visers , they are great, very comfortable.
I always remember to sunscreen my ears. Going I July is the viser will be a must!!!!

I never used to wear hats in the summer. But a few years ago I got a painful sunburn on the top of my head (my hair has thinned as I have aged) and then I had a basal cell skin cancer on my face. Now I always wear a hat in the sun. The one I wear most often has a fairly wide brim and a blue Mickey on the front. It does not keep me cool, in fact it has the opposite effect.
