I'm totally fed up with shaving every day and this seems like it might an option. I'm a bit reluctant to shell out, though, given that, a) it might hurt like hell, and, b) it might not work.

Only two nights ago, my wife tested one as part of her job.

Lasted about 15 seconds - will never touch one again!

Nah too much of a chicken, the pain factor isnt that high!!!!:)

No I'm far too much of a wimp I'm afraid!!!

I've never even plucked (no pun intended ;)) up the courage to have my legs waxed, eyebrows is my limit! - Give me a razor anyday!!!!

Tried it once. Hurt like (can't use those words here). :earseek: Stick to the razor.

Once you get used to it it's not that bad .Unlike waxing you are in control of the machine and you can do it a bit at a time.

Ouch!!
Oh no Deb, just stick to the lady shave:) My pain barrier can just stretch to the occasional waxing;)

I had my legs waxed the day before I went to Orlando last month.

I hadn't had it done before, and I was a bit worried, but my need to not have to shave the pins for a while was the deciding factor.

It really wasn't that bad, and as it wasn't me doing it it sort of made it easier?

Worse bit was the ankles, but it was over really pretty quick, and the end result was certainly worth it (so much that I am getting it done again on Saturday<g>).

I think given the choice I would have waxing done rather than epilator type thing.

Hope that helps :)

I just don't fancy using one of those epilators, although I do have my legs and underarms waxed without any problems.

I would vote for waxing ~ I've been getting my bits waxed for years and the hairs are so fine now, its great and it lasts so much longer too!!!

Nice suggestion Tim....LOL:rolleyes:

Another vote for waxing - I had mine done the day before we went - along with my pedicure - and it really makes a difference not having to shave everyday of the holiday. I think the legs are smoother and have a nice shine to them after waxing!!

Cath:D :D

 I've done this loads, the more you do it the easier it gets.

Mind you, I don't do under my arms..it's toooooooo painful

also I've found that a few vodkas helps:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

DD (16) got an epilady for last Xmas.....she thinks its great.
(she has the one with the ice pack to numb the area........it didnt numb it enough for me......think I need a general anaesthetic)

I tried it for like......ermmmm 2 seconds.........can cope with waxing .......but the pain.....OUCH
Even tried it with her in control...........was mega ouch

Gonna stick with waxing n razors here

I usually go and get waxed the day before the holiday.
I was told by the beutician that the best thing to do is to have 2 aspirin a couple of hours before the wax But it is done so quickly that it isn't that sore! Give it a go you'll be ok!

My advice to a 16 yr old would be to leave hair well alone if possible, I have friends that have never waxed /shaved and their hair is like baby down.
(I must add we are talking leg hair here..I'm not that close to my work mates)lol.

I'm a waxer too but then I am very fair haired so it doesn't matter if I get a little hairy from time to time.

Generally I wax my own legs or sometimes I get someone else to do it.

I've also been using a new product from the shopping channels called Nads and that is fantastic I use it for my eyebrows as well.

I used one of those Epilade things that pull your hairout and it hurt me sooooooooo much.

If I had been able to stop her shaving, I wouldnt have gone the epilady route with her....and yes .....had explained that once she started the hairs grow thicker. But, epilady'd (sp*)
hair is wayyyy finer on regrowth than shaved. Sadly teens nowadays are starting the shaving route earlier n earlier....she had class mates that were shaving legs and forearm hairs from the age of 12  So peer pressure makes a big difference.......and lol there was no way she wasnt gonna get rid of leg hair someway or another.....personally I preferred her to use an epilady than to shave.....
Reason explained now.

I use an epilator and love it. I love the fact that I don't have to shave very often. If you pull the skin tight it doesn't hurt. I don't do my arm pits with it as 1. I don't mind shaving them and 2. I can't get the skin there tight enough not to hurt LOL. Also the more you use it the easier it gets.

What is it exactly, Sam? Can you use it for armpits too?
