Ladies and the humidity- How to tame your hair?!

Lol I don't mind my hair being curly. I used to hate my curly hair (well up until high school is was straight...then I cut it short and it's been curly ever since!), but now I love it. It's impossible for my hair to be straight, but I try to keep my curls normal looking, lol.

For one I have bangs, and I just want to keep THEM straight. I HATE when my bangs curl they look terrible. And sometimes after rides like splash, my hair isn't so much curly as it is just huge and fluffy, but not in a cool way haha.

Definetly going to look into some of these suggestions. :)

Baseball hat !!! I wear my baseball hat my entire 9 day vacation. It keeps my hair out of my face, I don't have to worry about the Florida humidity, & it saves time in the morning !!!

I am chuckling...I would love to try some curly hair. My hair is super straight and fine. When I hit that August WDW humidity, it falls flat to my head. Not a single ounce of body will stay in it even with tons of hairspray. Send some of those curls my way...PLEASE!!

EXACTLY! I would much rather have some curls or even frizzies instead of my flat, lifeless hair. There's no hairspray or any other hair product in the world that will keep body in my hair once I step outside in the humidity (and it's not long enough to pull it up). Trying to figure what to do with it on my upcoming trip to WDW.

I am thinking about doing this on our up coming trip. Mainly if it rains. I tried a poncho last time and with the hood on I could not see anything around me, I was wishing for a baseball hat the entire time.

I have several really cute hats and I almost always wear them while at amusement parks. Between the water rides and the wind on the rids, my hair ends of looking like crap. Last year, I put my hair in 2 ponytails and wore my hat, and it looks really cute :)

I lived in Florida for 5 years and I spent most of the time there trying to figure it out... here's what I came up with:

1. Don't fight it. If your hair has curl, do not, I repeat DO NOT, try to straighten it. It's a waste of your time and energy and you'll end up looking worse than you can imagine.

2. Hair dryers with Ionizing are your friend. They do reduce frizz. Use a diffuser with it and get your hair completely dry before leaving the hotel. It will help some.

3. Use more hair product than you normally would. Stiff hair is better than poofy hair living on forever in your family album.

4. Invest in some high quality hair products, especially if you have curly hair. I recommend ouidad.com--I just got an ouidad haircut and it rocks.

5. Don't touch it. Touching hair in humidity just makes the poof worse.

a ponytail. I always plan to have dd15 style her fro' tied back when we are in florida. Otherwise she looks like a hot mess!

One word....PONYTAIL!!!

(I do have naturally wavy/curly hair).

I usually just put some mousse in my hair and scrunch it, and call it a day. However there are usually a couple days when I want to wear my hair down straight (which it is normally, but I have pretty thick hair) I shower the night before and wash my hair, blow dry it, do a quick flat iron (I don't want it to be pin straight then sleep on it and it's really fine in the morning). If need be wear a shower cap and shower again in the AM minus the hair and all you may need to do is run your flat iron through it for 10-15 minutes and it's ready to go.

This does also depend on how your natural hair is, I have friends who can't do this because it'd look to oily the next morning, or just plain blah!

I agree with a PP on Moroccan Oil. You can order it online and it is AMAZING. I have naturally straight hair but will sometimes use it for those frizzy days where something just isn't looking right. I go to an upscale hair salon, which is where I first tried it. It's really great stuff. My sister who normally has frizz problems uses it and you would never know! :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention, it's about $30 on amazon, and even though the bottle seems small, you really need SO little for it to work...like a drop the size of a pea.

Adorable! That's what I do! Ponytails always look cute and they feel great to have your hair off of you face! Plus, for me, I don't have to worry what I look like after a water ride with ponytails!:)

Moroccan Oil. Its expensive ($30 for a small bottle where I live), but it is WORTH it. I put it in my hair wet, and again when its dry. And its not as oily as one would think. I only wash my hair 2 times a week and put this stuff in daily, sometimes multiple times a day. It makes your hair SO soft and really tames the curls/frizz, especially in humidity. And it smells delish!!

My hair is short, super thick and quite curly and it really does the job for me. I don't use hairsprays or gels.. JUST the oil! The best part is..no stiff, sticky hair!!

Should be available at any major beauty supply, but Walmart also carries an "off brand" that might be just as good?!

Thanks so much for the advice. I bought a little trial sample at first to see if I would like it. Not only did I like it I went back and bought two large bottles. What a difference it made in my hair. It did not frizz for hours and if I saw getting a little frizzy I just put a little pea size dot in and it was like magic NO FRIZZ, and I have really curly frizzy hair in the summer. Thanks again for recommending a wonderful product. It does seem to come in a variety of different names.:banana::banana:

I have taken the big splurge and have scheduled the keratin treatment before my Nov trip. My friend has had it done a few times, and her hair looks so nice and healthy! Gone is the courseness and frizz. She's been able to try new cuts and looks so wonderful. Hoping I have the same response. My hair has been poofing and frizzing, since I had my kids 22 years ago. It's a big expense, but I've decided to go for it. No one tell my husband the cost! :)

My MIL bought this and I tried it for a couple of days while in Maine and liked it. She has really short hair and felt it wasn't for her and is giving me her last shipment. I can't wait to use if for a several straight weeks. It made my hair very silky feeling. My hair is a combo-straight on the top and then gets curly halfway down(curls appeared after pregnancies). It gets pretty frizzy in the humidity and I am hoping the WEN works for that!! Glad to hear you like it so much.

I hope you love it, too. You should use WEN and only WEN, don't switch back and forth between WEN and regular shampoo, or it won't work.

Most of the Amazon.com reviews for Moroccan Oil are positive, with possibly this exception:

"...It's basically Frizz-ease with some added Argan oil. I was expected a higher concentration of the Argan oil, but it's 5th on the list of ingredients - a fair amount, but not for what you are paying. (the top 5 ingredients of any item are basically what make the product) If something is going to be called 'Moroccan Oil', you'd expect it to be just that, right?

It's very smoothing (hence the silcones at the top of the list of ingredients). Silicones will build on the hair and will eventually have to be stripped with a detoxing shampoo to remove the build-up. I have virgin naturally curly bi-racial hair with a fine texture (think R&B singer Mya). Silicone build-up on curly hair can be the devil so curlies beware. The smell is not too bad. Kind of musky. Just glad that I purchased through Amazon and got a great deal (50% of the normal price).

All in all, it Will suffice for a quick fix for minor frizz, but definitely not a 'treatment'. For that, I highly recommend Eden Allure. They have 100% pure Argan oil available and it doubles as skin care. (not affiliated-just a lover of natural products) Speaking of which, Moroccal oil has color additives (D&C Yellow 11 and Red 17)."

Here is the Amazon search page for the 100% Argan Oil from Morocco.

I bought a product for my daughter from Sephora called "Hair Milk" in the children's section. I've used it on my hair and it works great to control frizz! I have awful hair in the Summer and this stuff really works.
