I won a raffle at a luncheon for several services at a salon. The certificate includes a facial, a massage, a pedicure, a manicure AND a Brazilian bikini wax!

The first services are great, but a Brazilian waxing?? I had a regular bikini wax years ago and lived through it, but never repeated it. My DH said, why not try it once, but then one acquaintance said she had one and was made to get down on all fours!

Is this true? If so, NO WAY! Has anyone here ever had one who can enlighten me if that is standard procedure or should I just say, thanks, but no thanks for the last service. (Or send DH for one since he thinks it's so funny!)

Out of curiosity, I did a search on google... I think this is one thing that I'll pass on.

I sent you a pm with the info I found as to what you can expect. :sunny:

Let's just say, that the person doing the was will know you almost as much as your husband.

pnelson,
RitaZ sent me a pm with more description and it sounds like your assessment is correct.

Why would anyone, other than a supermodel ready to shoot the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue do this?

I think I'm going to ask for a substitute treatment!

Okay, I have to go google now. Good-bye!

OMG! Wasn't that a torture treatment back in the dark ages??? You march yourself in there and ask for a substitute seaweed wrap or something!!

FYI, on the outside chance you decide to do this - the trick is to apply a light coat of unscented deodorant to the waxed region right when you get home. (obviously, no internal waxed regions). You'll be soft as a baby for weeks, no ingrown hairs. Probably TMI, but hey! :)

Which spa is it for? If it's Bliss--do not worry, they'll take care of you:) It's really not too bad, as long as you don't think about it.

Still, if you might enjoy something else more, it can't hurt to ask:)

Well, I now know what I am NEVER going to have done. The explanation on Google was enough for me.:earseek:

The local magazine around here had an article about how this is all the rage. I winced just reading the article. No thanks! If you want something to substitute, I'll bet they'll oblige.

I read up on it awhile back and found something where Gwyneth Paltrow said that Brazilian bikini waxes have changed her life. Um, okay Gwyneth - I'd hate to know what your life was before.

I can't imagine doing it myself, but I guess for those who like it, they REALLY like it.;)

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth: Who knew a Brazilian bikini wax could have such an impact on a woman's life! :teeth: :teeth:

I have endured enough pain in "that" region with 3 pregnancies and all that went with them. I don't think I can take any more "change".  :teeth: :teeth:

Ok, somebody give a link to the google search!:p

Why not ask if instead of the bikini wax they can substitute an upper lip or eyebrow wax? I would think it would probably be a much simpiler(sp?) process so they shoud be happy to substitute.

Let us know the outcome!

hmmm... I've wondered exactly what a Brazilian wax was... now I'm off to google, too!

Dana -- INTERNAL waxed areas? I thought there was no hair anywhere internal, BY DEFINITION! I don't think I really want to know this.

Also...a pain reliever taken the day of/right before doesn't hurt.
Also, you can get some anesthetic cream called EMLA from your doc.

The thing I am wondering about his whole thing is who in the world would want a JOB like this of doing that to someone else....blechhhhhhhhhhhhh

Carmen Electra periodically gets her entire body (besides her head) waxed. :) :) :)

I called the spa and they said I could substitute any treatment I wanted for the wax. I think I'm going to take them up on an additional relaxing facial treatment. I'm just not that brave!

Glad for the info though - who knew so many people actually pay for this!
