Lack of consideration

Whoa.....

living at the beach in HOT Florida, I have grown up seeing people walking around in almost nothing, practially anywhere. So for the bathrobe issue ~ I would definitely rather see people in a bathrobe (which is comparable to a cover up) than in the swim suits, I have seen enough large, overweight men in marblebags to last a lifetime....

about the slippers....as long as they were neat/clean , what do you care? What is the difference in those and sandals, flip flops or swim shoes? Would it bother you to have swim shoes in there? You aren't out in *public* per say and aren't you supposed to feel *at home* at your resort? Personally I wouldn't wear slippers to the lounge but who cares? It is someone's vacation and they should be relaxing and enjoying it. I have also found that the mixing of different cultures provides for quite a few *differences*. Things I would never dream of doing I have seen others do and maybe it is customary or ok from where they are from. I guess most don't think *when in Rome*.

As for the bratty kids, I think I would have made a comment to a CM or to the parent at least expressing my concerns over the germ issue....unfortunately we can't control the actions of others.

I have experienced LOTS of rude people over the years not only at Disney but everywhere....but places like Disney are a haven for it because there are SO many people there at any given time.

As for getting my money's worth - yes, I better. No, that doesn't mean I would be loading up my bags and taking stuff to my room, but I would make sure that I am taken care of on the level expected.

opinions are like noses, everyone has one......what may seem right to one may not seem right to another.

I'm not surehow much more expensive a concierge room now is at the Poly, but when we stayed there 3 years ago we were able to save $ by staying concierge. We were a family of 6, with our baby being 1 yo, so we legally fit in one room. Feeding 6 people breakfast alone was worth something. We're not real big breakfast eaters and what they served was plenty. At that time they let a person take bottles of water into the park. We would eat lunch in the park and would snack for dinner and the concierge was plenty for that purpose. And then add in the wine with dinner (or was it before--can't remember the exact timing), dessert, and after dinner drinks and it was sure worth the $54 extra/night that we were paying for the room.

No, we didn't let our kids run around and be disruptive in the lounge, but I don't let them run up and down the halls at be obnoxious at any hotel. We cleaned up their messes--babies can be messy--but whenever I did there was an employee telling me to let her clean it up. It was wonderful service and we enjoyed it a lot. We'll go again after our family size decreases enough for us to fit in one room again, which isn't long since our oldest is now 16yo.

This is not just an American thing though.....We have stayed at the Castle Club (thier version of concierge) at the Disneyland Hotel in Paris and saw just as many rude and objectionable people with few manners (Parents and kids!!).

Each to their own!!

:wave2:

I was waiting for this! I've been reading the tread thinking this sounds like nothing to the horrible manners I've seen at Disneyland Paris!

Our first trip to DLP was an eye opener for me. I had never experienced such rude behavior before in my life - from smoking in line for the rides (DS almost got smacked in the face when the woman in front of us started waving her hands to speak in line for the tea cups) to families clearing out the buffet. And the kids, holy cow, the kids! Mine would be duct taped to a seat before I let them run around and scream like that! :earseek:

Our second trip wasn't much better, the hotel had a cafeteria style buffet for breakfast, we couldn't find a CM when it became clear there were no plates, silverware, or napkins around. And I think there's something about never standing in line over there because people wouldn't, then they'd get mad because DS and I would get our food after waiting in a line and they'd have to wait. Same thing in the parks, we had people trying to jump the line. UGH!

I've never seen anything like it here - even DH admits it's horrible there and he tries to deny the fact that he's French.

I'm hoping our trip to WDW is much better! :D

:D Last posting made me smile.
I am from Europe, home of the rude behaviour.
When I am in the States I am allways surprised how nice people are. People are polite, greeting eachother, talking to one other.
When you do that here you are one in a million!
That is why I love WDW, in our European opinion all small children are little angels there.
Go to Disneyland Paris, your worse nightmare of rude behaviour.
By the way when you are in France, you are allowed to smoke almost everywhere !!!

You are at Disney World. There will people from all walks of life doing all sorts of things. They have paid the same as you and have a right to wear "slippers" into the "lounge" it's not V&A for goodness sake!

All families do things differently - you should probably stay somewhere more adult oriented and upscale if this sort of thing bothers you. It is a public place. Expect the unexpected.
