Lack of ADR availability!

Ha! I had originally way back when booked Alfredo's for dinner on 8/29. After reading on here about it closing a few days later and that service will probably be crappy, I changed to Teppanyaki LOL. Well I never got a call from Disney, but read on here that the refurb has been extended on this into Sept. Guess what?? The only dinner I was able to get for that day was Alfredo's when I called today. I guess I will be eating there after all!!!! I tried to get Boardwalk as well and booked up!!!!

Yup, everything is booked because of Free Dining. I just booked last week a last minute trip for next month with my best friend and alot of the restaurants weren't available. Not even late seating after 9pm, which would have been okay but not our first choice.

If you're having trouble finding a place to have a TS meal, ask about available at Yacht Club Galley, Olivia's, Shutters or Maya Grill. They tend to have availability when other restaurants are full.

Those are good ideas, but I really wanted to stay in Epcot. I thought maybe I would go out the back way to Boardwalk for Spoodles, but no such luck!

Try to eat at the Boardwalk places that don't take ressies: I know ESPN doesn't and I'm pretty sure Big River Grille doesn't either. We've eaten at ESPN and it was pretty good.

There are two threads going right now, one called the Cancel/Trade/ADrs thread on the restaurant board, and one called the Cancelling ADRs on the Dining Plan board.
Watch them, people are posting what they are going to cancel. Maybe you can get some from there. Disers are willing to give their confirmation # to you so you can use the ones they were otherwise going to cancel.
You may just get lucky!

I have not tried the others, but Maya Grill was not available at all for a party of 6 from 8/26 to 9/4. I REALLY think that it is different this year and they must have sold way more free DDP. I went the same time last year and right up to the last week you could still find ADRs.

I just called disney dining to see what was available for dinner during my stay (wanted to see if I could make some changes) & there were only 4 places that had openings & they were either at DD, Saratoga Spings or the restaurant in Morocco! Glad I made my ADRs at 180 days out!

We ate at Alfredo's on July 4 this year and we really enjoyed our meal. I had eaten there many years ago (back in the 80's) and I wanted to go one more time before they closed. The food was great and we had wonderful service. It only made me sad that I had not eaten there more in all the years we have been going. We usually just eat "around the world" and do not do any sit down dining which is the reason we had not eaten there.

If you can't get anything else, give it a try.

Try the others. I put Maya Grill on that list as an afterthought -- it does fill up more readily than the others I listed.

Another thing you can ask when you try to make reservations for a party of 6 is if they have a party of 4 and a party of 2. I just did this for Thanksgiving and was able to book dinner. They said when you check in to ask if they can either put the tables together or if you can be seated next to each other. It worked for me for Thanksgiving and I figured I would not be able to get anything this close to the date.

Yacht Club Galley isn't that much farther out of Epcot than Spoodles. You can either walk or take the boat. Don't give up! People cancel right up to the last minute, so there's a chance you could snap up something you would like.

It has been really hard getting ADRs!!!! I made most of our ADRs as soon as they would allow us, but I didn't make all of them....which I wish that I had known then what I know now....because after reading about the Le Cellier I am dying to try it and there is no availability any time on our whole vacation. I was lucky enough to just score a lunch at the Kona Cafe and a Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe I had been trying for weeks!! Now I will just keep my fingers crossed something opens up at le Cellier (yeah right! ha ha the CM said they were booked solid until Feb!!)

Don't give up hope..Last week I read here on the boards a thread that says "I pity the fool that doesn't have ADR's" becasue I guess many were calling and places were FULLY booked...2 days later I read about Teppan Edo having a late opening and paniced. I called Disney Dining and said I NEED ADR's for 8/26 in Epcot ---I was given a LIST chock full of places to eat and had my choice of time. I went with the first seating @ Chef's de France.
SO keep calling and try not to worry--You may just get lucky very soon

Since I don't want to eat at either one I then asked for MK or any monorail resort. Nothing. The CM finally tried to talk me into Trail's End....Yes there were a few placed where I could have eaten at 9 or later but I can't do that.

Don't panic, my word of advice, keep on checking with the CM's, cancellations are happening every minute. I was able to book Coral Reef, finally, after about two weeks of trying. Persistance Pays off in the long-run! Good Luck, hope you get what you want!

Party of 4. She asked me the time I would want to eat and I said the same roughyl as my Teppan Edo ADR and she blasted with choices (only asked for WS)...I had:
France
Mexico
Germany
UK
Norway
China

and I think one other....We chose France (a few hrs after) because it appealed to the 4 of us the best.

I still say don't give up--Keep trying daily (or twice daily if needed lol) and there is a good possibility----also when you check in and through till the day you need keep trying if you still have nothing...conceirge works miracles

Wanted to see if people could recommend restuarants that count as one service meals for a family of four (5 and 2 year old girls) and two grandparents. We have ADR's for everynight but my parents are concerned that we have too many two service meals and that we are going to be paying out of pocket for meals too much. Prefer non-buffet...any thoughts?? Here is what I have so far

Oct 7th: california Grill...looking to change to a 1 service
Oct 8th: Concourse Steak House (keeper)
Oct 9th: Hoop Dee Doo (keeper)
Oct 10th: Akershus Royal Banquet (keeper...daughters b-day who loves Ariel)
Oct 11th: Citrico's
Oct 12th: Ohana

It seems as though it's harder to get an ADR at a restaurant in or near the park with an evening EMH. For example, I had a really hard time getting an ADR for 2 people on the same night as AKL evening EMH. However, by changing it to the night before and after the evening EMH, I had my choice of time slots. Hope that helps
