We got our lab at 9 weeks. And the vet promptly told us she had the sharpest teeth in a dog she had ever seen. And now 3+ years later she still chews everything. Peoples fingers are a favorite. But we tried it all. Kongs, Nylabones, Tuffy's, Bamboo Combat Toys, Zogoflex toys, frozen variations of the above, rawhides, antlers, everything. And she destroyed it all. Kongs, zogoflex, and some of the Nylabones last, but thats about it. But as mentioned, they all need to be rotated out or she loses interest quickly. We have tubs full of toys to try to keep her interested. Best toy ever??? Empty milk jugs. Plastic gallon, paper half gallon, either works very well. We can play fetch, tug of war, and then let her rip it to shred afterwards. Those seem to satisfy her desire to destroy for a while. Liberal use of Bitter Apple taught her to leave food and furniture alone. And we learned the hard way that crates during the day when left alone are a must have. We keep her in a gated mud room, and used to let her roam around it during the day. Came home one afternoon, and she had ripped all the linoleum up from the floor, and was sitting on top it all proud of what she had done. Labs will love you with no questions, but they will also make you wonder why you love them back sometimes. Exercise is the best thing for them. A day at puppy play group, she comes home the best behaved dog EVER.
